MHKflyer52
Martin I think it might be wise to extend that skid plate pass the front edge of the bell housing, after looking at your photo. The extra wt would probably be worth the piece of mind. Dave W It will actually extend 3 inches past the bellhousing as a safety measure. Here is a snap shot of what I have in mine, just have to fab it up or make a drawing and have it made at the local steel fab shop. Edited June 15, 2010 by MHKflyer52 Added side profile of chassis with skid plate in place.
TonyI
I just looked at your ground clearance numbers... heck you almost have a dune buggy! I'm at 3 1/2 at the oil pan, 5 under butt, 3 3/4 under the rear suspension triangle...then I load my tiny self in (6'2" 245lbs) and the under butt number drops a little over an inch. LOL. Glad your back together now and it wasn't a major rebuild. score: tony 1, squirrel 0 (luckly he ducked and missed the nose. but couldn't limbo low enough for the oil pan) Tony
eVox
I had a similar problem after I swapped engines. Coming down the backside of speedbumps compresses my front suspension enough to tap the pan. Its got some distortion wrinkles. After unsuccessfully raising the cars ride heigh I made some spacer plates for the engine mounts out of 1/4" aluminum. That did the trick. Mondo
You might want to angle the back up a tad just in case you hit something backing up
MHKflyer52
You might want to angle the back up a tad just in case you hit something backing up Hi Mondo, Your correct with that and I am putting a lip on the back that is angled up so that if I should catch something while backing up it will not hang up as bad. Hopefully I will not have to find out if it works due to a spin off course or road and if I due I think I would have other issues that would need addressing once stopped. :driving:
