Posting for a friend - Unique 911 for sale in Canada

I'm posting this for a friend. He is having trouble selling his car up here because everyone is looking for a stock Porsche, which this is not. It is the ultimate hot rod 911. Huge 993 Varioram engine stuffed into a galvanized SC chassis. This car absolultly flies.

If you folks know anyone who is reaching middle age (look in the mirror) and wishes he had a toy in the garage that he could pull out on a Tuesday night or a Sunday morning and make him forget all the troubles of modern life, this is the car for you or them.

This 911 is all about power to weight. I’ve driven it before and its like being fired out of a cannon. The sound it makes is like all the great LeMans racers all packed into one and placed right behind your back.

There is a long and storied history on the car back to its transformation from bare metal chassis to its current state and it is immaculate. I almost bought it a few years ago its just that I already had a 911 (which I then sold to buy my Caterham)

James has dropped his asking price to

This car is guaranteed to change your perceptions of acceleration and make you grin like a mad-man.

As an FYI. The 3.6 ltr conversion alone on a 911 is ~$15K.

You get a modern reliable ~300HP combined with the simplicity and tactile handling of the mid 80s Porsche chassis.

Oh, if only I was a rich man with a multi-car garage and a more understanding spouse......

"Deal of the Century" comes to mind. I take it that an '82 Canadian Porsche could not be legally imported into the U.S for street use, due to emissions etc?

I have subscribed to Excellence Magazine for many years and have drooled over similar cars.

Whole thing kinda makes a committed se7en owner question his commitment:)!

Perhaps move it to the the "For sale" section here?

I'd also post at the Lotustalk website under other cars for sale. Many enthusiasts there.

The car came from the US so I bet it would be OK to bring back.

I once did the math...this car has pretty much the same power to weight as a modern Porsche GT3.

Thats a lot of go for not much $$

I think he is just getting stung by the weak economy.

If you have a modified Porsche itch this is a great car to scratch it with. Driving it makes you feel like Vic Elford in a 917 down the Mulsanne straight. Engage warp 9! I drove her one night and now she is the affair with the redhead that I will always remember

The original owner took an 82 shell down to bare metal and built it up to an awesome spec as part of a post divorce self indulgent exercise in "because I want to" . I bet there is over $60K of work on this car. Here are some more links

The VIN tag states it meets all Federal requirements so perhaps this was originally sold in the USA. That should make it easier to import back into the states. It doesn't say if those are Canadian or USA Federal requirements.

Can some one with another Canadian Porsche take a look at their VIN tag and see if it reads differently that this one or perhaps look at a similar year USA car and see what it says?

Edit: I see from the above post that it is originally a USA car. Wish I had a spare $20k!
