twobone Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Just a quick double check. Is this an Ital axle? I have yet to check the gear level. Do I just unscrew the filler on the face of it and fill with oil until it starts to dribble out? I know the original specs call for 0.7 ltrs but I've also read to put in as much as possible. Also I read the little plastic thing is an axle breather. Good thing I did not use it as a gear oil filler. Any other advice for a newbie?
Ian7 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yup, plastic "cap" in top right of photo is breather, leave it alone. My pumpkin actually has two screw-in plugs on the back face, one a few inches 'higher' than the other. Take both out, oil goes in top one until it starts to dribble out the bottom one. Very handy....
Ian7 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 oh, and yes, give it as much as it will hold up to the bottom of the lower plug, BUT DON'T FILL TOO QUICKLY, or the excess oil will run down the axle tubes and flood the hub seals while waiting for it's chance to drain out of the pumpkin.
