Hello ultralite s2k owners,

I am interested in purchasing and building an ultralite s2k. Loren Edwards recommended me to come onto usa7s to talk with some members. I was curious if any of the Southern California members have meets or meet ups scheduled in the near future.

thanks

Jeff

I believe there are only 4 complete cars in California. Mondo in SoCal with Jim Rankin, myself and another owner in NorCal. There are also 2 incomplete builds in Norcal.

I've been documenting my ownership experience on my blog at http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/tag/setting-up-a-seven/

I've seen your blog and it has inspired me to get a fuller coverage roll cage similar to yours.

This being my first kit car, Loren mentioned that it drives like no other car. A 240hp f20 motor plenty inspiring for mel. Personally I have not really a bunch of really high hp cars. Most of the cars I have owned are heavy with good amount of horses.

I have concerns of my fitment into the vehicles and how rowdy the will be?

I'm 230 6'0" guy. I don't want to find out it's designed for 5'7" skinny dude.

Its a pretty unique experience that people either love or hate - I would suggest you try and get a ride in Mondos car if possible. If you come up to NorCal you are welcome to have a look at my car as well. As for the power while 1400 lbs and 240 bhp is a lot, you do actually get used to it and I keep wondering if I should put down for a supercharger ;)

Hip and shoulder room will be just fine. I'm 6'1" / 195 lbs and I found the original seat to be way too big for me. The real problem for me is foot room. I have size 14 feet and I have to wear driving shoes - there is absolutely no way that my sneakers will fit. That said there is a lot more room in an Ultralite than any Caterham that I have seen.

Edit: Also the passenger seat is significantly narrower than the driver seat so you may want to look into that as well.

You'd have no problem in the driver's seat... 34-36 inch waist for the narrower passenger seat (motor and trans are a bit to the right in the chassis which helps with balance).

Plenty of leg/seat room (adjustable peddle assembly)... I don't have a problem with my size 10 1/2 - 11 size feet.

Keep in mind, these are kind of small hard core cars; wind, mechanical noises (rattles).... but they do get your heartrate going like nothing else.

Hmm... I think I'm going to have to arrange a meet up with Mondo or rnr.

Do you guys every have a meet once a year or something? Or are track events usually the norm for meeting.

I know it's going into the holidays everyone will be busy maybe early next year would be best. I also don't want to get on the grapevine during the winter time :p

I might try to make... saw where you guys were talking about it starting at 7am.... I'd probably leave around 6 and so might get there closer to 8.

Would that still work (too crowded)?
