snookwheel Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 X2! Thanks. I always enjoyed his humor. As kids, my brother and sister and I used to listen to his albums. there was a down hill go cart one that was great too.
gjslutz Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I also listened to him, in the day he was racey, as in on the edge of what people could say. It made every young man want to grow up and get a 427 Cobra ,He also did one on soap, Sug that was good for the day. It took me till 1970 to get my 427 Cobra, and like a fool I sold it in 1971 with 5,800 miles for 10K to fund a purchase of a new Pantera. As most who know me, I'm not the sharpest Knife in the drawer.
Kitcat Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Always been a fan. I happened to be watching the nite of his first appearance on the Johnny Carson show (1963?). He was a riot. Talked about the challenge of driving a stick shift VW on San Francisco's steep streets. After his routine, he got invited to sit on the couch next to Johnny, which was always a big honor, and demonstrated the performer had impressed the host. And he was even funnier ad libing w/Carson.
