supersportsp Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Just curious, since the x-bow is to be a street car where would you go to get collision repair if ever involved in an accident? . To the bank to take out a 2nd mortgage.
danilo Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Welll... IF in a serious Accident in either a Caterham an Atom or an Xbow I seriously doubt the Heirs would worry overly about 'repairs'.
jlumba81 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I was mainly thinking of the minor fender benders that others on this forum have experienced. Mainly trucks or SUVs backing/driving into them. Its easy enough to have a 7 reskinned and replace the damaged tubes, but not to find someone to repair carbon fiber. Ah, if the monocoque gets cracked wouldn't you have to replace it rather than repair it? I'm not too familar w moncoque cars.
danilo Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Yess ..Sorry, I was being sarcastic. But It shouldn't really be an issue, should it? I carry full collision insurance on my cars which at best are worth 1/2 to a 1/3rd of that KTM purchase price. Only a fool would not carry appropriate insurance, unlikely, given the means required to pay the machine's purchase price So no worries whatsoever re 'repair' costs beyond a $2/300 deductible and the ensuing aggro. Strangely enough, Ins may prove affordable. A colleague has a late model Ferrari and to our astonishment the ins premium is slightly less than that for his daily driver Accord. Driver history, age, frequency of use have a direct $$ effect:-)
rnr Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 My favourite X-Bow story is that Sebastian Vettel has one and drove it from from Switzerland to Monza for the 2008 race where he became to youngest ever F1 polesitter and race winner. http://axisofoversteer.blogspot.com/2008/09/sebastian-vettel-has-crossbow.html
jlumba81 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Ah I'm fine w/ the sarcasm. It just seems like a headache to find a speciality shop or have the dealership fix it and possiblily wait for a new chassis to be shipped from austria.
danilo Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Here: meet the man who has designed the handling of some of the finest cars of this Century. http://www.lorisbicocchi.com/ IF only Caterham had the werewithall to hire him
MHKflyer52 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 This thread sounds as if it is a sales pitch for the X-Bow which I have to say is a neat looking vehicle.
