twobone Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I think this Lambo had the record at the last event at over 235MPH. Don't think it will make the next event. I hope the driver is OK http://www.streetfire.net/video/hd235mph-lambo-crash-from-texas-mile-2010_2079018.htm#
twobone Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 If I was pushing for those kinds of speeds, I think I'd beef up the roll cage a bit more. He is lucky he didn't do more barrel rolls http://www.streetfire.net/video/official-video-of-230-mph-corvette-crash-at-texas-mile_2228593.htm#
slngsht Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 There was a C6 vette that blew a tire last week at 3/4 mile point at 230 and lost it. Driver is OK.
WestTexasS2K Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) 7evin and I were there for the Lambo crash. He crashed when he pulled the chute after the finishline. The chute was attached to the rear lower subframe which was about 6 inches of the ground. It pulled the rear off the ground when the chute deployed. A 20-25 mph crosswind didn't help. It had a small cage in it. He is very lucky it went end over end. Car wise he was ok. He had another Gallardo there with the same set up plus a Ferrari 430 all were twin turbo cars that he only drove for standing mile (i was told). I don't think they were road worthy because of the large ice intercooler system mounted in front. I dont think they had heat exchangers for the intercooler it was done with ice. Those cars were unbelievable. They were in pristene condidtion. The owner wasn't very social. Bit of butt to say the least. Edited March 31, 2011 by WestTexasS2K
