rich Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I bought the serpentine belt anti-squeal kit a couple of years ago and just got around to installing it recently. Turns out it seems the water pump inlet is in the path of the belt. The attached picture is a top down view of the front of the engine. Harmonic balancer, water pump pulley and idler pulley (top pulley) are shown. The belt should run from the harmonic balancer directly to the idler pulley but the water pump inlet is directly in it's path. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rich 1999 Zetec
11Budlite Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 (edited) Rich, Do you know what version Zetec you have? It should be either a ZX1, ZX2, or ZX3. I think most Caterhams from that era used a ZX2. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the water pump setup on the ZX2. The ZX1 should not need the anti-squeal kit because of the water pump it uses. Here's a thread that shows the difference between the different Zetec models. http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5096 Unfortunately the ZX2 photo doesn't show the water pump in detail. Check out how the ZX3 water pump inlet is to the left side of the engine away from pulley/belt area. Maybe a ZX3 water pump could be used on a ZX2 motor if that's what you have. rich Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Thanks Bruce, from your pictures, mine is a ZX2. I guess I need to do some research on using the ZX3 pump on my ZX2. Rich
