twobone Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I'm replacing an old lucas "hall effect amplifier" ignition system with a new aldon distributor. Can someone walk me thru the wires that normally run to the coil? Right now there are two wired (white with black stripes running to the negative side of the coil. There is a small black wire that runs from the alternator to the positive side of the coil. There are two white wires to the coil. The new distributor simply says connect the red wire to the positive side and the black to the negative side. Should I remove any of the other wires or leave them as redundant? Also, any special install tips for the distributor, or just remove and replace and try to set the arm pointing in the same direction?

Ian7 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 for a start, don't use the stock Caterham Aldon, the advance curve is all wrong, not nearly enough advance for street use.
