Ruadhd2 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I think when I regain my sanity from owning a 7, I will buy a Boxster S. I have a line on one that is really pretty but doesn't have PSM (Porsche Stability Management?). Can I live without that feature you Boxster owners out there?
Jon W. Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) I think you mean PASM. PSM is standard. Porsche Active Susp Mgt is pretty amazing. It's on in an instant. Solenoids change the path of the damper oil. I use it for smooth roads, entering highway ramps, or just before curves. If you drive a car with it, you'll want it. Car feels soft and floppy with it off; but too stiff for all day cruising with it on. I looked until I found a car with it. Ended up with an '08 RS 60 because they all have it. Not sure I can afford them out of warranty. I think they're $1800 EACH to replace. Edited October 21, 2011 by Jon W.
Ruadhd2 Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 I'm looking at a 2002. It doesn't have it. It became standard in 2005. PASM is different of course.
dallasdude Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 The Boxster is a very well balanced car, so unless you are going to drive a lot in really bad weather, I don't think is imperative.....and in an older car maybe not as easy to live with. The PSM in my Cayenne is throwing errors right now and based on the download it looks like I am going to have to buy a new steering angle sensor and I'm afraid to ask what that costs. I will say 4wd and PSM was amazing in the snow however the last couple winters.....but I am afraid I am about to pay the price.
Mondo Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I've always felt the same about the boxer as the miata... seems it's the choice of female porsche drivers. Don't get me wrong, as a miata driver I would't mind moving up to a boxer. I'd then be in touch with my high-class feminine side;) ,
