a.moore Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 That is awesome. Are you strapped in or just hanging on for dear life?
twobone Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 The one I did had a seatbelt. It was designed like a roller-coaster in that it ran on dual tracks with wheels on both sides of the rail so you could exit the track. To go "no brakes" would require some serious trust in the equipment. Both my 4 and 10 year old sons thought it was super-fantastic fun. At 15 bucks per rider per run, we had to limit the fun!
MHKflyer52 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 There use to be one some what similar at base of Mt. Hood in Oregon at one of the lower ski parks. The difference is it is like half pipe with walls to keep you from flying out of the tube on the turns and you ride what is like a wide skate board with a seat and handle bar to hold onto that when you pull back on the handle bar it actuates a drag brake to slow you down. It was built like the water park slides without the water and fast. Have to admit I could not make a run with out applying some brake before some of the turns and even with that I was told to slow down several times by the operators. This was back around 15 yrs ago when I lived in that part of the country.
notakit Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Screw that! I can drag my knee at 140 but there's no way you could get me on a ride like that! I have to have a little more control of my life!
solder_guy Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I remember the same "half pipe" style runs back in the 70's .. They were more like miniature bobsled runs .. And the lever between your legs shifted between run, coast and brake. I guess that they all disappeared with escalating insurance rates.
