Reasonable price for 2002 Seven

Recommended Posts

I am new to this forum and apologize if this is the wrong place to post the question. I hope to be checking out a 2002 Caterham soon; it has a Duratec 2.0, 5-speed, LSD and 3,000 miles. It is described as "well-sorted" and in "mint" condition. Seller is asking $35,000, which seems 10-20% high to me, but I am out of touch with Seven pricing since I had to sell my Series IV 30 years ago. Thank you for any suggestions and information that you can provide.

There are sooo many options on a Caterham and all drive the price up. What does this car have? And what, if anything, will you need to add to make it what you want?

Since the '02 Caterham came w/Zetec w/exhaust out driver's side and Duratec exits passenger side, how was that accomodated?

I had the same problems looking for a car...it is such a small, thin marketplace...very few cars or buyers. There might only be a couple of REAL buyers out there at any one time...."If I had the money I would buy it" doesn't go very far with me.

Coupled with the fact that most of the owners are in love with the car, makes it hard to set a value/price. A lot of the cars have extras that may have little real value to a buyer. I think sellers need to honestly ask themselves "Would I pay that much for this car?"

NADA would have been very helpful. I wish there had been something to go by.
