TonyI Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Last year I new I needed new rubber so yoko 032 would be it, however looked this year, no more http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/nonod.gif I have 13x7 panasports on it, 150ish hp. My old rubber are BFG R1's 215/50 zr13. I get slight rub on the rear fenders so its a slight but not to big a problem. Mostly road driving, spirted when I can and some track days(not many) and I watch the weather channel so I really haven't seen rain in years (even in Michigan go fig.) Avon CR500 205/55 ACB10 7/21 or 7/22 or ignore, they're old school, suck on the road(from what i've read) Kumho 710 215/50 Slightly less tread than my old r1s http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif Toyo RA1 205/60 Yokohama 048 205/60 Was mentioned they might be..to much, meaning better for a heaver car Hoosier DOT???Size?? Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated Thank You Tony
slngsht Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I've only had RA1's, so my review is hardly comprehensive, but I've been happy with them. They have regular tread pattern on them, so occasional wet driving is not a problem at all.
R1 Seven Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Another vote for the RA1. Good all around tire with good wear and stays very consistent though it's life. The price is good as well. They will probably be the next set of treaded tires that I get for the locost (for the times that I don't run slicks)
soareyes Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I've heard good things about the Toyo R888 from the UK guys, but still not available here in the states. Anyone know why? Probably not the best for street use, but looks like a agressive track tire. http://www.toyo.com.au/img/R888.jpg
slngsht Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I ran nitto 555 RII Extremes on my vette last year. coming back from an autox (in the rain), I almost put it in the wall, while doing 50 MPH. Completely hydroplaned, and went across 2 lanes of traffic (I was going striaght, highway was turning) You're better off with good street tires and good track tires. Unless you're lucky enough to live in sunny Californiaslngsht2007-04-17 21:51:53
andrew7 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Tony, I have A048's 185/60/13 on 13x6 rims. They are sticky, I thought they were a harsh ride but that was at 20psi maybe at 15-17psi they'll be better. I only have 1 ride on them. I got them from JB racing, 1 heat cycle from a Spec Ford Racer. Mine where $45/tire 5/32" tread. Check out the "my new 7 tires" post for pics and info.
Boxologist Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 i would recomemnd the cr500 and r888 fro my reading of the recomendations on blat chat like stan said. both handle double duty very well. though i don't beleive the r888 are dot compliant...
