The Stig
Just a heads up that there is a track day planned by the LotusPALs group (http://lotuspals.ning.com/) at Englishtown Raceway Park on 9th April. http://www.etownraceway.com/ Although the road course is small, it would be a fun day and nothing intimidating for first timers to a track. It represents a perfect opportunity for fine tuning the car and socialising. If there are 20 people it is $215/ ea or if it reaches 25 it is $175/ ea. This is an incredible deal! Checks and reservations can be sent direct to: Kim Beyer Raceway Park Marketing and Hospitality Dr. 230 Pension Rd. Englishtown, NJ 07726 732-446-6234 If there is not enough response there is an option to raise the cost or get a refund. I will provide updates here, but sign up quickly, it is limited in numbers. In the first instance, a show of hands on this forum would be a great help.
Croc
Nice find. Have they resurfaced Englishtown since early 2011? I went there in person to check out the track in the hope of putting a sevens only track day together. Price was not the issue. I believe this was designed as a extended go kart track so it is pretty tight and well suited for sevens but run off is limited in spots but average speeds are pretty low. However, when I chatted by phone about reserving a day with the general manager, he said I should come and inspect the track for suitability as it was starting to break up in a few places and bumpy in others and may not be good for gravel marking expensive cars (his views not mine). On taking up his invitation to inspect in person, I think he was right although I ran a lap in the daily driver to test (never made it out of 3rd gear!). If the surface was renewed then I think it would be a very good deal. Edited March 12, 2012 by Croc
The Stig
I went over there a month or so ago and this picture was taken just after. The track has not been fully resurfaced but has been pretty well patched up. http://lotuspals.ning.com/forum/attachment/download?id=4667018%3AUploadedFile%3A39284 You are right about lack of run off and it is certainly not a high speed track but for some twisty fun, could be a good day. The Stig
There are a few images and a bit more info on the LotusPALS thread here - http://lotuspals.ning.com/forum/topics/raceway-park-road-course?xg_source=activity Edited March 12, 2012 by The Stig
The Stig
Looks like around 9 spaces already filled for this event. Could be a good event and talking with the organiser, should get everyone about 2 hours track time. This will be very different to anything at NJMP due to the small and tight circuit, but at least it is local!
Croc
I have to admit I am undecided about this one. Reason being is I am planning to be at NJMP Thunderbolt on April 6 and 7 for track days. I am also having problems getting new tires - Avon is out in my sizes worldwide that fit a CSR. I have enough tread for 2 days but not confident enough for a 3rd day which is what Englishtown would be.

They are good for keeping you on the track :driving:
