In preparation for a race this weekend we scrubbed in some new tires and verified some suspension changes to our EP Caterham 7. One of my son's friends came out to the track with us and made a video, here you go:

I definitely need to upgrade my shoelaces:).

Very beautiful car, professionally prepped.

Why clams (even tho cut down)?

HP at wheels?

First race will be where?

What has he been racing?

Hoosier A6s, or R6s, or....?

Hey 18 year olds think color coordinated shoe laces are a big deal!

Yes, professionally prepped by me!

Clam shell wings are required by SCCA per GCR 9.1.5 page 505, even the dimensions we can cut them down to is specified!

Maybe 140hp at the rear wheels, engine mods are very tightly regulated

This car has many races on it, in fact it is the car that won the National EP championship 5 years ago, we bought it last year and have been racing it since, our next race is at Eagle's Canyon in 4 days.

Andrew has been racing EP since the beginning of last year.

We run Hoosier 43543 radials in R80 compound (the rules limit us to 13 x 6 wheels)

I saw that race and that win (After the top 4 cars all took themselves out on last lap in an incredible display of "If I cant have it, you cant either" driving, or more charitably, overly aggressive displays of driving).

I thot my recently purchased used Caterham track car mite be SCCA legal but it is obviously not (one more temptation avoided).

You can down load the SCCA GCRs for free and review the restrictions levied on Caterhams, and there are a lot. But, we both race in EP, my son more than me and faster than me, and it is a lot of fun. Figure out how to make your car comply and jump in! There are 5 Caterhams in EP in our region and 2 or 3 Lotus 7s in FP, a great knowledgable group of racers! Lot's more nation wide, I'm not sure how many.

You know I am not sure about the tonneau. But you can run an SVT engine with restrictions and a 100lb weight penalty so you must run 1560 with driver instead of 1460 with the Focus Zetec.

Sweet

For a moment there I thought you had stolen MY Caterham. But after Looking at the LIME GREEN color scheme..... Whew!

I race a 2000 Caterham in the Northeast (lime Rock and Watkins) and we are having a blast. Moved up to a National Race group and raced in 2 races. It was love at first turn.

Good luck with your car and someday I hope to meet on the track

George Kline #31 Look me up on the national rankings.... but look down the list a bit..... only 2 races so far

Great looking car. Sounds good too.

I reached a point with SCCA years ago that I had enough of their rules.

I started doing NASA. I can read the rules in 15 minutes. :)

Keep up the great work guys.

By the way I like the matching shoe laces.

I had a matching mohawk for my car... LOL

Yea those shoe laces were a big deal for my son! We still love the racing in SCCA but I totally get your comment about the rules, the GCRs getting fatter every year!

We re getting close to trying out NASA also!
