WestTexasS2K Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I found this link on my 914 forum. It has some really cool car builds from forums such as ours from all over the world. The link is http://www.build-threads.com

BusaNostra Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Nice site - I wish i can finish my Datsun Z like Hugo. Been sitting for years now.
WestTexasS2K Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 I miss my z as well. I've had thoughts of building another one but I have to finish the 914 first.
BusaNostra Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 iS IT 914-6 ? Here is my half done Z -- http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/91/zzzpurple001.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/175/fallpictures036.jpg/ Hopefully by spring I will be able to continue rebuilding it.
WestTexasS2K Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 It doesnt look that far from being finished. Are you running RB26 motor? I would like to do one with an Chevy LS motor. I have done several v8 conversions on them but the LS motor would be great over the others because of lighter weight. Did you ever see my orange 280z with the 396/6 speed in it? It was a beautiful car. I had alot of hours in it. My 914 has the GT flares all around. Its has 911 suspension and brakes on all 4 corners. It has new floors and all the chassis stiffening plates installed. It is not a 6 the original six cars were 110hp. They were quick cars for the day. P car six cylinders are horribly expensive so that not an option because I have a 10k dollar budget for this car. My car will be running one of my favorite engines Honda S2000 F20c. It will weigh about 80 lbs different than stock 1.7l motor. I should be able to run the stock trans without fear of tearing it up. I will be changing the gear ratio around to fit the motor better. With this combo it will be a pretty quick car. Plus it should be able to get in the upper 20 range for gas mileage. It will have AC an some modern comfort items in it. This was purchased with the intention of being a father son project and his first car. Im worried it will be way to much car for a 16 year old. He will start in the wifes Civic Si and then move this car once he dimenstrates good decision making. I was once a 16 year old and I know what I would have done with a 2100 lb 240hp car. I would be pushing as hard as it would go.
BusaNostra Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 (edited) yeah..RB26dett (Skyline GTR 32 single turbo) I love to see your orange Z 396. That probably twisting the Z chassis huh? So, try the extreme next and get the ZR1 engine or LS7. I'm staying RB just because it's my original Z and Nissan engine. 914 is a nice project but let the kid drive a blue bomber first. I gave him a jeep wrangler, last thing I know, i recieved a bill of $350. from tow company making extra trip at the swamp. I was so mad, sold the JEEP and gave him a BIG BLUE DODGE SWINGER! at least 100% visibility & old woman car. There are couple of 914 running around my town, sometimes at the x-cross and limerock. 914 with s2000 engine is a nasty one! Not for kid........yet I used to have a Police car 240z from Japan with double overhead cam. I wish I didn't sell that car. I got it from Clark air force base in the Philippines. The only Datsun DOHC & rare. Is this yours? Edited October 24, 2012 by BusaNostra
WestTexasS2K Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 Yes that's my old car. I sold it to a local guy a z fan and retired marine. He bought-my car and then a month later he took a contract job back in Japan it was supposed to be for 1 year that was 5 years ago. He comes back once a year and drags it out of storage washes it put fresh fuel in and changes the oil and drives it for a few weeks then goes back. I think the RB is a great motor for a z. You can go from mild to wild with it nd it all Nissan.
