scannon Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I'm still contemplating trailering the Seven to Orlando but cost of gas and hotels is a bit prohibitive. Is anyone interested in sharing a room at the event hotel, assuming there are rooms left at the $125 rate?
Klasik-69 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I just googled LOG32 to find out what, where & when. I would have liked to go but I'm racing at the Talladega GP TT event that weekend. Bummer! I live only 55 miles from this event, missing out on the opportunity to see a bunch of 7's. that's a long drive for you coming from Colorado for a 2 day event.
scannon Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Its more like 3 1/2 days if you include the track day at Sebring on Monday. It is a long drive but I planned on doing some of the Orlando attractions while there. I've been to two LOGs and had a great time at both of them. One of our Lotus club members is driving his Elan out for the event taking 8 days on the back roads to get there. If I go I will trailer the Seven and take two days to get there via the interstates.
Klasik-69 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Sebring is a great track but rough on cars. Full track is 3.7 miles, club track just over 2 miles. I've done hundreds of miles on it with a C6Z06 & Spec Miata, bought many tires & dozens of brake pads. That track will wear out a set of pads in two days. Bring some painters tape to protect rear wings & other prone areas. Orlando attractions are expensive with prices above $90/pp + parking, won't mention food prices. Universal Studios & Sea World are worthwhile, Disney more for kids with rich parents. Enjoy your stay. I wish I could have met you. You've helped me in the past with wheel spacers/adapters so I could my Miata wheels on the 7.
scannon Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Thanks for the info. I'm still on the fence but $1,400 just for the fuel to get the truck, trailer and Seven to Orlando and home is hard to justify. I could fly out for far less but then I wouldn't have my car there and that is half of the fun.
DeanG Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 The event hotel has a shuttle to Sea World so we hope to see that. Sebring should be fun. I enjoy running around on different tracks just for the experience. At various LOG I've been able to drive around a few that provided great experiences: Gateway - oh so thats why there are tire marks on the wall, Talladega - Sure is steep. I wish the Seven would go fast enough to stick to the banking. Indy - Wow history was made here, Blackhawk farms - Then you turn hard at the tree... I'm signed up for the auto-x and expect to be the slowest Lotus/Se7en out there. It will be great to see some of our old friends there. I hope to meet a bunch of folks from this forum.
