Jackal
Like many of you I have a desk job, and use a calendar at my desk to coordinate my home and work life in ink. I failed to get this years Grassroots motorsports calendar and have already been noticing my life spiral into disarray. I wanted to put an Idea out there for this lovely group we have going here. A USA7s calendar. My Subaru club holds a contest of sorts every year. Members can submit any picture they like (assuming proper rights) of their car, group gathering, blat pics, that sort of thing. All the members then vote on the twelve months, and another for the acclaimed cover photo. The pictures once formatted are submitted to a service that creates the calendar, and then the club purchases them through the site. I can get more detail if there is interest here. Has this idea been pitched here before? Is there any interest?
rnr
I'd be happy to participate and submit pics but the problem usually is that you need someone to step and do the work of selecting/editing the pics.
Jackal
I'd be happy to participate and submit pics but the problem usually is that you need someone to step and do the work of selecting/editing the pics. We found it usually runs pretty easily. Selection process is a vote open to the community. That means the selection aggrees with the majority too, and avoids challenges later. The vote is usually a "Pick Three" type of thing, and the forum thread does the legwork. Editing is also made easier by stating the pictures have to be submitted in the proper resolution. If not in the proper resolution, then they aren't accepted, and the next highest voted picture fills that spot. One person does have to step up and be the contact to the service, but ordering is also done through that site, so the collection of money isn't even a concern. The rules as cut from my other clubs site: Every member of the Western Subaru Club is eligible, regardless of their car or join date. Each member may only submit ONE picture. If you submit more than one, you may be disqualified. If you want to change your entry before the deadline, you are free to do so, but just edit your post. You must own the rights to the picture that you choose to enter. Do not steal someone else's work. The submitted picture must be of a Subaru, owned by a member of the club. There are plenty of cool pictures on the internet, but that's not what this calendar is about. The submitted picture must not contain nudity or inappropriate content. People want to put this up at work. The submitted picture must be a high-quality image. 1024x728 does not cut it. Please strive for 2048 or higher. If you don't have a high-rez version, don't submit the picture. The submitted picture must be in landscape format. That is the format of the calendar and I don't want to have to deal with cropping. The submitted picture must not be a weird aspect. Keep in mind that this picture is going to be printed out probably on either 8.5x11 or 11x17. We don't want to have to put a lot of black space around the border. The pictures from last year's calendar are not eligible for entry into this year's calendar. scannon
My camera doesn't have that high of resolution so I won't be submitting any pictures but I'm up for buying a Sevens calendar.
Jackal
My camera doesn't have that high of resolution so I won't be submitting any pictures but I'm up for buying a Sevens calendar. I think that most cameras available now should support that resolution, don't they? The Iphone 4 camera resolution is 2592x1936px, (5M) even though the apps on the device, and the screen itself can't support that size. 2048x1080 is only 2.2 Megapixel http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/79A51D94-4C30-45BA-979B-AA794C285C4A-2476-000002E5171B2352.jpg
