That looks awesome... Looks like a stripped down version of the Factory Five GTM... That'll be a fun build!

Did you cut your hood? Is it still the fiberglass middle section? Just curious as well... Why?

Advice needed: is a Seven a good idea for me?
stevengines replied to Aardappel's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Aardappel: You going to jump in the crowd? Snookwheel: I love the hardtop you made... That is exactly what I'm trying to do with mine. I will likely shamelessly rip off your idea. I don't have a friend with a golf cart though so my material will probably be different. I really like the speaker mounts on there too. I've been eyeing wakeboard tower speaker mounts to consider adding a radio back to the car. -
+1 for the ultrasheild rally sport, I have a matched set in my car as well(like xcarguys but in grey, cause black is hot in the summer). besides being able to actually fit the seat in the car, which is key. I find the seats very comfortable. And they were significantly cheaper then all the other manufacturers comparable seats. My wife was kind enough to let me get the set for my birthday last year. The prior seats were a buggy style fiberglass shell that never fit my wide hips at all. The shoulder wings are very comfy, I wear a 44L-46L jacket for a chest reference.

I also have and love the Stalker. Just a 280hp scV6 for me though. I can break the tires free easily up to about 50mph though so it's still pretty quick. I'm 6' 220# but have the torso of a 6'5 or so person with really short legs. Fit is snug and enveloping with the ultrashield race seats I put it. I have the seats directly on the firewall and floor to maximize room. My taller siblings that are 6'5" can drive it as well... I'm have a very long torso and found the classic seven windshield to be right in my sight line. I built and used the chopped version of a window as well for a few months, loved the visibility, hated the chaff. I have since added a much taller cage with t-top style roll bar that slopes back much more than a classic seven that doesn't require the acrobatics to get in, in addition this gives a great place to mount a full size windshield. I added some side windows that make the car less turbulent then my regular cars with the windows down. As far as being your only car? I've had at least 2 cars since I was 18 and love to have a beater/commuter style car, for the salty UT roads in the winter I wouldn't ever drive the 7 on. I have gone shopping and made plenty of trips to the hardware store in the 7, get lots of funny looks and questions but I've found with some rope and ingenuity I haven't had to leave anything at the store for a second trip. I did not enjoy long drives before I put the current windshield/side windows on. If you like motorcycles with no shield the ride will be the same. I find it taxing. I have a miata as well if I feel I need a little extra storage space and better climate control. As well as a couple cars for my family to roll around in. I'd like to add a bikini style top so I don't have to worry about being parked in the rain and there are lots of ways to do it. But I think there's only one stalker owner with a homebuilt hardtop out there. Good luck with whatever you pick, I'm sure you'll love the driving. I would be surprised if you didn't want to start tinkering with the car though, it's kind of an addicting hobby... Then through in some track days, drag, or autocross and you'll be completely hooked. Here's some pics of how I laid out the windscreen... http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=19904 -
Nice work! Making me want to upgrade to the LSx motor myself... If only I could find a wrecked donor for nearly free, as that's what my budget for upgrades for the rest of the year will be... I have #6. Love the new M-Spec chassis too... I switched to that style cage and love the new windshield layout it gives.

I'll be interested in coming! That sound's like a blast. Do most drive out and race or tow? I generally feel more comfortable racing with a trailer.

Hello Utah 7 owners... And everyone else of course!

Well, My stalker is back together and street legal, many upgrades complete. My favorite, a new roll cage from Brunton Auto that is tall enough for road racing. I went with the T-top style for the front half because I still plan on using regularly on the street. Automoda, I saw your beautiful birkin in draper the other day when I was having lunch. I didn't want to run in the restaraunt sounding crazy looking for you or anything buy your car is sweet! I'm going to try to get mine out for a Midnight drag again just to make sure I do that once this year. I'm also shooting for one of the Miller Motorsports Park Wide Open Wednesday night racing... Anyone else up for either? -

I took mine out to the strip for the last Midnight Drag event... That might have been me. Another guy there approached and described a Locost he had built with a toyota motor and a big turbo. Sounded like a cool car. I ended up breaking my trailing arm bracket bolts on the first launch so I didn't even get a run in.... Good oppurtunity to upgrade. I hope to have all the upgrades(to the newest brunton frame spec possible) done this month. Along with rear supports for the roll bar. I may do the front support bar that Brunton does. I also like the idea of a removable front cage that many other stalker owners have. I love the marron birkin paint job. Very pretty. The red is also nice. Two of my favorite colors. Although mine is blue, funny how that works. I guess its an easy car to repaint though. Currently my car is having an identity crisis. It think it's an Atom with all the body panels off so I can do the upgrades. http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=19265&g2_serialNumber=2 -
Getting in touch with my feminine side

Skip, This is probably the best group to go to Miller with: http://lapbattle.com/ Miller also has it's own track days but you have to complete a driver training day called a torde prior to being eligible to run with their crowd. http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/get-on-track/open-track-days/automobiles.html Even though you're running the same track with similar rules when you run with one of the clubs; lapbattle, SCCA, PCA you don't have to do the torde. Plus the clubs are usually cheaper... It's a fun track that they can configure many different ways to keep things interesting. If you think you'll make it out for a day I'll do what I can to make it. I have seen a caterham and an atom out there before. I need to add rear supports to my roll bar before I can take the stalker out there. Hoping to have that done this month. I'm tempted to do a cage but I don't know if I want the car to be that serious... And I don't plan on doing head to head racing, just lap days and timed events. -
Getting in touch with my feminine side

Just wanted to chime in as well... I love my miata... The stereotypes make for fun joking with friends until I take them for rides... Then they are usually scared to ride with me again. Mine's a 1994 with most of the Flyin Miata Catalog parts installed. FM2 turbo 240hp. Suspension. Roll bar.... On and On for the mods on that thing... I've been racing it since I got it. Even got to chase Scannon around a vegas track in his beautiful yellow car. I even managed to bump him in the parking lot like a dumb a$$. Fortuneately, it was a very light bump and skip's a cool guy. I've had it for 11 years now, bought it when I was 20. I think I've put around 50k 12lbs boosted miles on it. Can't say that it's been maintenance free but the things I've broken were pushing the limit at the track so I don't blame the car. And none of the repairs were enough to break me. Especially compared to the Stealth TT I used to have. I now also have a SuperStalker. While that thing is scary fast. My turbo miata still holds it own. I used to think the miata was a little loud, the Stalker has changed that opinion immensely. Here in UT it gets cold in the morning during fall and it is very nice to just put the top up, turn the heater on, listen to the stereo and drive comfortably to work. At the end of the day. I take 30 seconds to drop the top, still able to hear the stereo and enjoy the ride home in the afternoon sun. Opposite in the hot summers... Top up, A/C on... Passing with the turbo is no big deal as it'll do 100mph with a quick stab of the gas pedal. I love the stalker too, but it will always be competing for time with the miata. I've had the miata up to 150mph... And over 130 on the track many times... Feels great and very easy to control even at those speeds. It's a fun girly car... -
Hello! I just wanted to say hi as a new 7 (SuperStalker)owner. I haven't really seen any others in the area(SLC, UT and north). Wondering if there's anyone out there? And if you race!? If anyone is around and knows a good roll cage guy, I'm looking to get some work done so I can take my car out to Miller. I already have a main hoop but need rear supports at a minimum. Maybe a front half sometime as well. Thanks! Steven
