  1. The original super duper seven, the JPE!
  2. So that's what happened to it, thought it looked familiar in your avatar! Glad it went to a good home.
  3. I remember the car in Vancouver, WA back in 2012. Saw it for sale and went to look at it. Owner had just sold it but new owner was yet to pay and pick it up. Sadly I missed out on it. Bought a 1979 Lotus Esprit S2 "JPS" instead but still want a Caterham JPE to join it in the garage.
  4. If you happen to venture to Arch Motors make sure to pop out the back. In the bushes and on top of old sheds you'll find a few discarded Caterhams too badly damaged to repair. On top of one shed is K7 JPE, the first JPE built and written off by an Italian journalist in 1993. He tried to overtake and had an unfortunate incident with a lorry resulting in a broken arm and destroyed JPE. Here's what's left.
  5. Yes the original graphic is incorrect, none were officially sold to the USA. However at least 1 rhd has made it here.
  6. It's a great article breezy7, not many people know about this Caterham classic and how good they are.
  7. Just heard back from Caterham, no JPE were exported to the USA officially...didn't meet emission regs. Any that are here are most like grey market imports. Only 4 LHD were built...2 for germany, 1 for Austria and 1 for Saudi Arabia. 1 RHD went to Australia and the rest went to UK and Japan. Roo
  8. Croc most were dayglo yellow but others in bare alloy, blue, black, orange etc. So down to 4 in the USA, Croc send me a PM of the one in Florida if you like. By all accounts 46 rhd and 7 lhd, one of those in Germany was written off.
  9. That one's in the UK Greg. I'm looking for the ones exported to the USA back in the mid 1990's.
  10. Seems as if the JPE is an elusive animal in the wilds of the USA, no sightings as yet. I'm sure they are out there stalking unsuspecting prey on the racetracks of the Americas.
  11. Was just looking at JPE cars in the UK when I stumbled on some details of 5 cars being built and exported to the USA. Does anyone know anything about these and if they are still here in the USA. Always been the ultimate 7 in my eyes and would love to see one in action.
  12. Seems it's up on EBay now with a repair to the front suspension and claiming it is a Lotus. They want $19,999 for a damaged car with a salvage title! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Lotus-Super-Seven-Lotus-Seven-/202013604554?hash=item2f08f2faca:g:ORsAAOSwGrNZhSeO&vxp=mtr
  13. The salvage Birkin at the insurance auction went for $10,600 plus fees. Was a bit rich for me. Some one from Ranhco Cordova in CA was the winning bidder. Hope it is back on the road soon.
  14. Thanks for all the comments, I now have a better idea of what the car is and how the damage was inflicted. Bidding is already at $5,500, once you add in fees and transportation there wont be much change from $8k. I suspect there is frame damage hence the insurance company writing it off. Probably makes sense to buy a new frame and transfer all the pieces to it.
  15. Just wondering if anyone knew the history on this Birkin. Seems insurance wrote it off and it's now up for auction. https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=25017402&RowNumber=1 Appreciate any help. Roo
