It shouldn't be an issue and I'd thought of using the engine prior to deciding on the the RST-V8. It would be great to see one in a Caterham. The new Zenos E10 (Ansar Ali's new company) is using that engine (non-turbocharged, 2.0L). It's on the cover of EVO magazine right now and there are some pretty good shots of the engine inside. We can source this crate engine for you if you decide to pursue it. http://www.britishspeed.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=34597&d=1392702608

The rights to the Hartley H1 were sold in 2012. The H1 used to be a value compared to the RST-V8, being US sourced, now it is considerably more expensive and does not come with a Caterham-specific package. H1 2.8L 75° V8 84mm Bore X 63mm Stroke 4 cam, 32 valves chain-drive 530mm wide x 485mm long x 530mm high 400HP @ 10,000 rpm 245 ft-lbs torque @ 7500 rpm 200 lbs engine weight Billet flat-plane crank Dry sump 0il system with 4 stage pump RST-V8 2.4L 90º V8 78mm Bore X 69mm Stroke 4 cam, 40 valve belt-drive 552mm wide x 550mm long x 450mm high 400HP @ 10,000 rpm 200 ft-lbs torque @ 7800 rpm 163 lbs engine weight Billet flat-plane crank Dry sump 0il system with 5 stage pump Hopefully that side-by-side proves insightful. - Joe -
Superformance new USA Caterham Distributor

To build on what has already been said, EU5 homologated car is called the Seven 485. The same car will be brought to the US as the Seven 480. Caterham explained, while I was in the UK, that the "5" designation is intended for the EU5 cars. Here is a internet-sourced picture of the setup: http://www2.diariomotor.com/imagenes/2013/05/posts/Caterham_Seven_485_21-1024x678_700.jpg I'll have more detailed shots of my own to post when I get around to the blog. You can see the drive by wire pedal box (look for the bump) next to the flexible intake tube. Clean setup. -

A few more videos that I've seen before... Engine Dyno North Weald early testing on the RSW Lotus RSW EVO V6 in-car shakedown video with Russell and Mad Hatter -
Engine Specifications: 120º 24-valve V6 500+ hp 273 ft lb torque 183 lbs. Rotrex supercharged 10,000 rpm Internally driven dry sump oiling system. What may not be as transparent is how LOW the engine sits - it's almost a flat 6 with that bank angle! In the mean time, enjoy the supercharged madness! Video of the EVO V6 in S3 Caterham:

I believe that the inboard suspension and *maybe* wide-track front suspension was engineered by the no longer in business Freestyle. I seem to remember that these components can still be sourced, however. I'm not all that knowledgeable beyond this information, but remember Sean showing me his setup at the S. CA Mt. Palomar assault. What's not to like about an inboard suspension S3? - Joe -

I can assemble some objective information comparing the two engines. They are both great. However there are a few reasons why we made a conscious decision to invest in the RST-V8. As far as availability, The Adrenaline Gallery is working with RS Performance, so these engines are now much more easily available in the US. Once you move past availability, the next - very real - challenge is implementation. We're working to overcome this and make the components available in a "kit" form so that this power plant can be as plug and play as possible - still with room for individualization. The EVO V6 engine IS available and actually has been installed in a s3 Caterham. I have an iPhone video I will work to upload. While crude, you can still see the supercharged low-sitting 120ºV in all it's awesomeness shine thought. More to come on that front (I'll start another thread, in time). Stay tuned... -

Vertigo! Not the best view, but you can make out the 3 intake valves here (she's a 40 valve engine). Here is what she weighs with all ancillaries (starter, alternator, dry sump, flywheel, dual-plate clutch, belts, etc.) and including the bell housing. 232.4 lbs. / 105.4 kgs. Light enough for a single person to pick up themselves! -

Until I have something more to show, here is Mike Biddle's car in Dubai, which Sean mentioned: This is one of the two videos of the RST-V8 in the Caterham 21: There are a couple more dated clips which can be dug out on youtube. -
