  1. I posted this on the other forum but thought maybe others were interested. And perhaps for those who have done this, please feel free to come in with tips and experiences as this will be my first duratec. I finally have some time to start on my long awaited Cosworth 2.3L Duratec rebuild. I bought an engine that came from a CSR260 which had spun a rod bearing on #2 cylinder. It looks like low oil was the cause. For reference, it's a base CSR260 engine, consisting of: Cosworth 12.0 CR forged pistons Cosworth rings Cosworth/Carillo rods Cosworth HD oil pump Cosworth/Titan internal 2 stage dry sump Modine oil cooler, High flow fuel injectors and rail Cosworth CNC head (not the race extruded full CNC head) Cosworth 2nd stage cams, race valve springs Cosworth light weight flywheel Cosworth/Caterham 2 piece roller barrels Some pics to start I started disassembly right away to see what else was damaged and needs replacing Here is the big end of #2, you can see it scored the journals on the crankshaft:
  2. When you say Zetec Loom, do you mean the engine Loom itself or are you talking about the chassis Loom? I'm planning on getting rid on my zetec engine loom & getting the duratec engine loom for the R400 that caterham supplies but I'm still waiting on word to see if that will plug into my existing chassis Loom. If you're talking about modifying the chassis loom itself to be able to mate it with the duratec engine loom which I'm hoping I do not have to do, then that will be a PITA. I was hoping that my 2005 chassis loom hooks up directly to the Caterham duratec Loom 38L035A to save me all the trouble of rewiring it.
  3. Yes, I'll definitely do that. As of now, it weighs 1220lbs with 3/4 tank when I corner weighted it.
  4. Does anyone know which loom I can use? Caterham 38L035A Cosworth YD8048 As stated above, my current motor is a 2.0 Zetec SVT and I'm working on putting in a CSR260 in an S3 chassis. I'll also be using the Cosworth MBE ECU. I would like to use the Caterham loom as it is 1/3 the price but will it be plug and play into my chassis loom with the new engine and ecu? TIA
  5. My superlight R with svt zetec was corner weighed at 1220lbs with 3/4 tank of gas, aero screen, no spare tire, no heater
  6. Hi All, I've been lurking on the forums for a while now and thought it's time I introduce myself. I've been lusting after a 7 since I was a teenager and was lucky enough to recently pick one up about a year ago. It's a black S3 Superlight R with the SVT Zetec 2L, 6 speed, wide track, bare bones with some cf bits. Motor is bone stock but has some nice Nitron 3 ways from Meteor Motorsports in the UK that I've been playing around with. I'm located in SoCal and look forward to meeting and learning from you guys. 7. Hi Wayne, I think I see you on CCC forum as well by the same username? I have the SVT Zetec 2L in my S3 now and I'm looking for a little more power while at the same time lose 50lbs or so on the front end. I thought there were a few guys on this board who have the 2.3 in their S3 but I could be mistaken. I wanted to build a 2.3L myself but as of now, I don't have the time so thought it'd be easier to see if anyone wants to get rid of their duratec 2.0 or 2.3. I would source all the other parts such as mounts, headers, ecu, harness, bell housing, alternator, etc from either raceline or sbd across the pond.
  8. I'm looking for a duratec engine, preferably a 2.3L pushing about 220hp+ to swap into my S3. Please let me know if you have one available or knows someone who does, thanks!
  9. I'm looking for a set of half doors, either soft or carbon fiber is fine. Also, a shower cap & full Tonneau cover that will fit S3 with tillet seats. Please let me know if you have these items lying around, thanks!
