  5. I got my new Rotus home yesterday, well early this morning. My father and I headed out to D.C. from Toledo, Ohio at 7:30 A.M. yesterday and got home at 4:00 this morning. We had a couple issues along the way which is what took us so long but we made it. I got it titled and plated today as well. I now need to call hagerty for insurance. I cleaned the car out as there was a fair amount of just stuff in it. I will be having a new top and tonneau made and also new seats. I pulled the seats out to find a lot of moisture and 20 years of nasty. The square tube that goes in front of the seat bottoms is fairly rusty on both sides from all the moisture but I think it can be salvaged. The exhaust is rotted and will be replaced as well. I also plan to get aluminum front and rear fenders from Coveland and strip the paint from the car and either polish it or paint it, not sure yet. I will need 5 new tires, reworking of the electrical and some brake work as they are mushy,. I may simply replace the whole Tilton pedal assembly as well since some of the seals are rotten. I also need windshield washer nozzles, new bushings, new coil overs, and probably a few other things. This will be a fun project and I very glad to have purchased the car. I will take some pics and put them in my photobucket account some time this week so you can see what I have. I drove the car around the block this afternoon and grinned from ear to ear with joy. It was cool. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif Merry christmas to me http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif
  6. Boo!!!!! I wanted a ride. More fun next time!!!! Oh well.
  7. I just finished a new motor last spring that was worth 348 hp to the wheels. All the body parts were the rarest of the rare. But on to new bigger and better things. Here is a link to my XR4TI: http://s98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/robertourfer/87%20XR4TI/
  8. That is the car. It is absolutely spectacular in person.
  9. A while back there was a 7 that was for sale, it was all nickle plated and carbon fiber. It was built by an electrical engineer out west. I don't have any pics but I am sure someone does. Anyway a friend of my fathers bought a new Elise from a dealer in Detroit and told me the owner had a couple of 7's. So I went up to Detroit yesterday to meet this guy and see what he had. Well he just sold a red Caterham for $32,000 but we have this other one that is probably out of your price range he says. Really I would love to see it I say. we go in the back of the facility and here sits this 7. He said he would sell it for $100,000 It is sweet in person. Absolutely amazing the amount of detail and just simply time that was put into the car. I just thought it was pretty crazy that it ended up in Detroit Michigan in a Lotus dealership.
  10. My turn to have a go at this. I am a 29 year old sales rep in the professional beauty industry. Yes I sell shampoo.... I have been in love with 7's for about 15 years. I can't remember where I saw my first one but when I did I said to myself I will own one of those one day. When I graduated from Highschool my parents took me to England for a month. we rented a car and drove the country. At the time I was really into Merkur XR4TI's and Ford Sierras. We went to some junk yards and some chop shops and bought some parts and then the highlight of the trip. We went to the Caterham factory. It was by no means the most impressive place I have ever been. It was like a 5000 square foot warehouse. But all the cars and the race cars they had simply made me want a 7 even more. While there the guy who gave us the tour told me to stand on top of a work bench and look over the wall to the other part of the facility. I looked at him and said "what's over there?" he said "just take a look." I looked over the wall and there was the very first Caterham 21. After this whole trip I came back and I wanted a 7 so bad but I 18 and poor. I plugged away with my Merkur for another 10 years building the greatest XR4TI ever as far as I am concerned. I then saw Alec Lichtmans car for sale and went out to Maryland to visit a client and looked at the car. I came home and called Alec and we made the deal. I will be picking up my 7 in 10 days and believe me I can't wait. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to drive it until spring because it is so cold here. But at least I have finally got my 7. The downfall is my wife said I have to sell the XR4TI if I am buying a new toy. I have completely dismantled and sold for parts the car I just spent 12 years building. I wanted a 7 that bad. Happy Holidays to all, Robert O. Urfer II Toledo, Ohio
  11. I have both doors side, side curtains, and a tonneau cover. I just saw a top and doors on ebay for a caterham and thought it would be a good cheap fix. Regards, Robert Re

  13. Thanks, I will send you a message before I leave to come out. I was in the area about a month ago to visit a client and that is when I drove over and took a look at the rotus Alec had. It needs some work but I am excited to get it. I have been dreaming of a seven type car for about 12 years now. I turned 29 today so I told my wife it is a birthday/ christmas present to myself. I will keep in touch. Robert
