  1. Yes, it's sold. Unless I'm hit by a meteor or have a stroke from high blood pressure due to too much excitement!!! I just want to thank everyone so much for the guidance along the way. Dan
  2. Should I be fearful of a motor from 1992? 24 years old just scares me, probably because I don't know what I don't know and at first blush that's more of the turn-off than power. Again, car looks amazing and I hope I've not highjacked this thread.
  3. Car looks AMAZING!!! I would buy this in a heartbeat, I think I'd just like a bit more power for track days Strike that, someone talk me into it...
  4. Hi All, I thought the CA "2014" TMW car was sold to someone on the forum (Kevin?), but now it seems it's still on ebay?... Also, the 2005 Birkin seems like an ok starting place; however, it seemed like fairly big money for an '05. I've made initial email contact with the seller, but have been busy with taxes... ugh. What say the experts (on the '05 Birkin, not taxes, we don't want to go there) Thanks, Dan
  5. Good deal Kevin!
  6. Hi Mike - Good call, I've thought about it, and will probably call today. A little hesitant due to motor being a Ford "Test Motor" and the build starting out as a kit in Canada. Car is nice and seller seems very much upstanding. I'll let you know how we do. Also, will do Kitcat. Dan
  7. Was top bidder for the 2014 Birkin in CA; however, didn't meet the reserve. It feels like I'm always searching for a Seven I can drive on the street and take to HPDE events, that has a full cage. Willing to pay fair value, prefer IRS and I don't need more than a standard Zetec to get myself started. Other than checking here, Autotrader, Craigslist, and Hemmings, what else should I be doing? Sounds like I should/will attend the Lotus 7 event at NJMP this summer to gain a few contacts.
  8. Yellow thanks for the info and invite. I will definitely make it to the NJMP event this year, car or no car. Croc, I'm semi handy. I learned that the engine is a 2008 Ford "Test Motor" that Texas Motor Works purchased in a lot from Ford. Not sure what that means and no real info on how much wear and tear was put on the motors during "testing". I'll try to get more info on the amount of leaking and precise location. My other concern is if I'd get held up at tech for track days for something like a minor leak.
  9. Hi All - I'm new to the group and serious about buying a seven. I enjoy track days and would really like to be more connected to the experience than behind the wheel of a 3500 lbs sportscar. I'd really like to take a chance on the California Birkin above, but fearful of the transmission leak and the owner selling so quickly after purchasing what appears to be a very nice car. I've already emailed the seller on these items as well as that the engine and perhaps other components appear to be used based on the cali sticker pic. Any thoughts from the pro's on here would be helpful. Also, if anyone knows about registration in Pennsylvania without a windshield or other concerns, I'm all ears. Thank you, Dan
