  1. The Tracsport is quite well known for performance and durability in these circles. I haven’t heard of any complaints from anyone using one.

My 2017 Caterham with LSD ought to have had the updated Titan design (I think), but still crapped out, so I opted to swap to the Tracsport.
Maybe folks in the peanut gallery will chime in here?

  2. For reference, my 2017 Seven 420 (nee 360) had a Titan BMW LSD fail. Tracsport in the UK provided (and installed) their LSD into a new BMW diff that they bought directly from Caterham UK. Then they shipped it here and I installed the “pumpkin” as a whole, rather than having the LSD shipped here and having a transmission shop install it into the carrier Stateside.
It was a fine solution for me.

  3. Mine was built from new, so in NYS, the custom home built vehicle was what was recommended to me and worked out fine.  Really not too much fuss.

That said, if the vehicle has a title, registration, etc from another state, I’d be inclined to try registering it as a “regular” car, though Vlad’s point about OBDII could pose problems. I’m not familiar with those issues because the custom home builts are exempt.

  4. In light of the unfortunate cancellation of our annual Se7ens event, I am aiming to run with the SCDA at Lime Rock, weather permitting, next Saturday, Oct 21, 1pm to 5pm.
Would enjoy seeing and driving with some other Se7ens, for those of you close enough and so inclined.
It’s no substitute for the annual event, but it’s a beautiful track and lots of fun.

    *Drum roll*

Not a day too soon the car runs!!

Got an expert to come down and we did a deep dive into the harness and tests of everything. 6 hours into pulling the harness out to give it a good once over and wipe it from all the oil under the old electrical tape as well as plug up random terminated ends etc we come across this peeking from underneath the tunnel

As we out curiosity piqued we found this trouble maker under

After fixing all other harness issues and going out to buy a micro 3A fuse we put everything back together and after a few other gremlins the car fired right up

Always thought it might be a rather simple fix (10% chance) but didn't think it would be a hidden fuse.

The ECU was likely reading 9v after back feeding from the alternator, that's why it would show 0v in a feed wire to ECU and would only show voltage when ECU was plugged in.

So happy for you, Vlad. Look forward to seeing you next weekend.

@BlakeJ with my anticipated 420r arriving in the spring (also in NY) and being registered thru vs100 procedure (I assume).  What is the smog/inspection situation ?   Is it exempt or do you get the new car waiver for a couple years then need to have it inspected/smog? Do they do this with obdii /canbus port or tailpipe ?

My cat is a new stock 420r. Just trying to figure out any issues if I wanted to change anything down the road (intake or exhaust) and smog implications.

I registered as a custom build, and there were no emissions or smog requirements then, nor in the future.

New York’s process is very manageable for a kit with proper documentation.

How many days you think you will get out of them?

I suspect to perhaps get 5 or 6 days out of the 333’s. I’m having them remounted after 3 days to avoid burning through the outer shoulder.
