  1. Zeroshift has a cool product...but I have to raise the BS flag on their promo vid. The car in the first half is accelerating much harder than in the second. It is also noted that the "redline" or shift point is a good bit lower in the second half as well. Zeroshift would be cool to have though. Can you get a dog box or equivalent guts for your T-5?
  2. slomove, That second grille really looks nice. I had given some thought about modeling one up in CAD for the Locost nose and getting it laser cut. By the time I did all that and paid for the one off laser run I could have bought a Caterham unit and modified it with less trouble (time invested). I went ahead and bought the one that Locost V8 posted up from the UK. My plan is to build the rest around it like Russ described above...only I will use steel rod welded.
  3. Man, thanks for the responses guys. Based on the prices of the various parts Looks like the guy Martin would cost me about as much as getting one from RMSCI that I could modify. The current exchange rate stinks... The one with just the badge that Jim pointed out is really the part I was looking for and has a decent price. I can build the rest of the grill right off of that. The idea is that the "7" will color match the body, and the rest will be black. Again, thanks for the good info. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cheers2.gif
  4. What is it made of? Is it metal or plastic or unobtainium? That is my favorite grille for the seven. I know they won't fit my own grille opening, but I might could modify one and retain the center "7" logo. Thanks in advance...
  5. Martin, The car looks really good. Nice job! You have given it some subtle style with the wheels and the rear fender treatment. To me it has a little bit of retro Cali hot rod style, especially with the surf board on top. You can do a lot with a spray can. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif My dad and I once painted my Jet Ski with cans. It was a pretty elaborate three color scheme with clear on top. We rubbed it out and brought it to a deep shine. Most everyone thought we took it to a professional shop to get that work done. That was back in '92...it still looks good today.
  6. Nice! Thinks you guys can make some vids like that from TOTD? Here is a clip that keeps me inspired on my build...I think that I watch it daily now. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif It is a Fluke Motorsports R1 powered seven. In the video they are dialing in the flatshift system (no lift upshift). >Fluke BEC
  7. Me - 34. However, my love for the seven started in my twenties.R1 Seven2007-01-08 19:59:27
  8. I know of a few more...but that would only bring the total to around seven. I am sure that there are more since not everyone is on the internet. If you still have it, would you mind PMing me Pauls contact info. The info I have for him is old and not working anymore. TNX
  9. Yet another that is not steet leagal here... Chris Ficcone has one legal in Texas though. Semi OT...do you know Paul Petrun from the Pittsburg area? He is the person who gave me a ride once in a BEC seven and got me hooked.
  10. Yep, we have been having some good discussion. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif Thanks for being responsible for this little place on the web. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cheers2.gif
  11. Howdy, Brand new memeber here. I have been checking on this forum for a while and it is good to see it growing. It is also nice to see a place where all types of sevens are welcome and discussed. We all know who the originals are, but overall the individual groups are relatively small. Coming together like this is good for all seven enthusists IMO. Since this thread is supposed to be about talking about oneself, I will give it a go. My name is Jeff Underwood. I am a Mechanical Engineer by trade and live in Roanoke, VA. Currently I am getting near completion of my seven project car. It is based on the Locost design and uses a fuel injected Yamaha R1 bike engine. It will not be street legal, as it's primary purpose will be for track driving, time trials, and autocross (on occasion). I started this build at the end of 2001. It is now a little over five years later and I am just now getting it done. The actual build should have taken more like two years, but life and priorities have a way of being a roadblock from time to time. Needless to say, I am pretty excited about driving this thing in the next couple of months. There is a link in my sig with my build diary if you are interested in the project. A little more background on me...I have been a car nut for as long as I can remeber and have an appreciation for most all makes. I have been actively involved with autocrossing and track driving since 1998. Through the years I have shifted away from autocross and spend much more time doing track days and time trials. Currently I do in-car instruction with several clubs in the VA/NC area and consider VIR to be my home track. Anyway, just thought I would say "hi" and say thanks again for providing a place where ALL seven lovers can come together and chat. If there is still "room" I hope to be able to attend the sevens event at TOD in July. Take care,
  12. Hey Andrew, There may be a couple of more alternatives out there. Hankook makes a DOT R-compound tire that is affordable. There is a sale going on with last year's model and they have your size. $75 per tire. I just ordered a set for my car (205/60-13 rear and 185/60-13 fronts) Looks like there is only one set left in the size that you want. The web page is wrong in listing the C50 compound...they only have the C30 compound wich is a little harder. I have heard pretty good things about these tires, so I figured that for the price, I would give them a try. http://www.frisbyracetire.com/z211sale.html Also, I think that Sumitomo makes some street tires in 13" that are not skinny econobox tires for pretty cheap, but that may not be what you want.
