  1. ...It would probably be something like this:
  2. Al, I guess I should get on that USA Se7ens list...is it just a mailing list? There is a story to that video. A friend of mine kept doing his imitation of what my car sounded like and we were laughing at it all day. We kept saying that we needed to get an audio clip of it. On Saturday night we had been celebrating with a few adult beverages and were hanging out at the trailer. It hit me that I had the video camera and could film him doing the sound and get the audio off of that. I get the camera out and start filming when another friend starts talking him though a lap. Here is that original video: http://www.project-seven.goof.com/videos/AJGregVIR.wmv During the week afterwards I thought it would be funny to dub over a lap of the track with thier "lap". I figured it would take a lot of time but would be worth it. Once I started working though it, it became impossibly easy. Basically I just ran the video at double speed and only took it back to normal speed at a couple of well timed locations. I spent maybe 45 mins total making the video. Based on that, we determined that visualizing a lap while intoxicated makes you go twice as fast for some reason... :jester:
  3. Coveland is a Locost supplier that has some pretty nice cycle fenders. I have a set of 8" wide ones on my car but they also have some 9" ones. http://www.coveland.com/motorsports/index.cfm?ID=69#fiberglass There may be other places to get them as well.
  4. Made it... New software looks nice.
  5. Mazda - that thing is really starting to look mean. The fat meats on it really get the proportions looking right. It should be a monster when you get it back going again.

  7. Is this going to turn into some sort of an American Idol type of thing? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gifR1 Seven2007-04-19 14:45:56
  8. Another vote for the RA1. Good all around tire with good wear and stays very consistent though it's life. The price is good as well. They will probably be the next set of treaded tires that I get for the locost (for the times that I don't run slicks)
  9. I think that it can take several hours to a day to process from what I understand. Congrats...can't wait to see it. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif Edit...Mazda types faster than me. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/mad5.gifR1 Seven2007-04-17 17:55:24
  10. Mazda, She is starting to shape up nicely...keep up the good work. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif
  11. Back to the track again this weekend. This time to VIR North Course. I got to do my first time trial with the car on Saturday and had a blast. It was pretty cold that day and my hard compound Hankooks did not like it at all. It took several laps to get enough heat in them to sort of start working. This thing is going to be crazy once fully sorted and on some slicks... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/reddevil.gif >VIR North TT
  12. That will do! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/reddevil.gif
  13. I was following that Megabusa while he was building it. It was a good inspiration for my long and drawn out build. I wish that I had the budjet that Dennis has for his projects.
  14. Those are cool Andrew. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif I could have used a set of those at the track this past weekend...it was just above freezing when I went out for my morning sessions...
  15. Yes, Folis was one of my students this weekend. Of course calling a former Formula Atlantic racer a student seems kind of funny. We had a good time for sure. Hopefully he was not too hard on me... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif All three of the Birkins are coming to 7-7-7.
  16. One of you jokers needs to buy this then... http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1962 It would seriously be a cool project for a kid.
  17. Steve, This particular weekend was with NASA. There are many different clubs that run at the track in various configurations. This weekend would have been a good one for you as we had a total of four sevens there. There were three Birkins and my car. Two of the Birkins endend up being my students so I was just about sevened out by the end of the weekend. There is a great weekend coming up the first of May. The Mid-Atlantic Alfa Romeo Club has a great driving event along with the VSCCA at VIR's South Course. This is a fun and relaxing track weekend with the added bonus of getting to see many great vintage cars racing with VSCCA. There usually are some Series 1 sevens some elevens and many great old formula cars and sports racers. It would be a great way for someone to get thier feet wet at the track... 18. I am signed up for BM (where us little BEC kids go) #19. I am game for whatever special classes we want to do.
  19. Now there are two of you...sheesh! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif Where is that Rodney Dangerfield video when you need it...
  20. Thanks. I was running with my fellow instructors at the time, and we have a lot of trust with each other and keep communication up with hand signals. That makes things go a lot smoother. Most of the sports racer guys can get a couple of seasons out of an engine...and they are harder on them than I will be. I hope that I have simmilar results. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif A replacement used engine is under $1500 though. Not too bad for that much performance.
  21. The day finally came and the car finally made it onto the track this past weekend. There will be a full write up on my site later in the week, but here are the highlights... The car is super fun right out of the box and demonstrates great potential considering I have the "slow" setup/tires under it. I found out real quick that that little 1 liter hauls the mail and I need a new rear end gear bad. Basically on cruise control for half or more of the straights. Current top speed is 120mph. >R1 Locost at VIR Full Course
  22. I bet it's a BEC http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrinjester.gif Smarty pants! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/reddevil.gif
  23. I have a very good friend who races a vintage Saab that weights about 1700lbs. He tows it behind his Saab Aero with a custom built single axle trailer alot. It has no brakes, and he has no issues whatsoever with that setup. Just one more data point...
  24. Welcome Graham. I have had my eye on a flatshifter pro unit for quite some time. The exchange rate makes it a pricey add on at this point. But, one of these is cheaper than replacing and engine/tranny that is worn out or blown up from bad shifting. I may be talking with you in the near future about getting a unit for my car ('03 R1). -Jeff
  25. Looks like three Birkins have signed up...and I am riding with two of them. Anyone here? Can't wait to get my little beast on the track this weekend. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif
