  1. This is not really relevant, but might make you feel better about regular fuel tanks. This was a plastic "fuel cell", but without foam. It was well-engulfed in flame (from a weld spark in seat foam) and had half-melted. While the gas was certainly fueling the fire from a burned hose (there was no gas left in the tank), there was no "explosion". http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/squarefour/7-project/melty-fuel-cell.jpg
  2. I think the Brooklands screens make quite a bit of difference. One "problem" I had with my helmet was that there wasn't enough wind to blow the rain off the face shield, even with Rain-X on it. A quick "pebble-poll" from the trip shows me getting hit with 6-7 significant gravel pcs, but another guy with windshield and clamshells got hit with 3-4. Most of them come from the side, from passing trucks. Some of my count could have been bugs, it's hard to tell.
  3. I vote OFF! I just did about 2,700 miles without windshield or helmet, and it wasn't bad, really!
  4. I'd just like to echo the thanks to Mike, Gert, Rosie and Stan. I know that organizing things like this is not easy. So Tuesday morning I was at the gas station filling up the old Town Car when two things hit me- Jeez this is taking a long time! and- Wait, noone is staring at me and/or asking questions! I'd be up for a Sturgis meet, though I would probably trailer it, like all those Harley guys I've made fun of.
