Interesting to see all the pictures. It seems that you have many of the parts even all the body panels. Also seems that it has been heavily modified in its time, an interesting car S7 Neophyte did you get my e-mail?

Lets hope the exchange rate improves in our favor, its about the only way i will be able to afford another one. Its either that or wait the long cockpits (otherwise i will not fit comfortably) to become 25 years old and bring one back from my homeland. and quite honestly the prices are resonable there at the moment for the old ones so here's hoping. $70k for a 7 really gets away from the clubman racer concept for that kind of money one can buy some serious machinary.

didn't crash my network but on the whole i have a reasonable amount of protection and thats not triggered so I would say you will be OK. These are the unedited 1 hour shows from the UK which quite frankly i have missed ever since i moved to the USA. Also look out for the special for Christmas which I think broadcasts on the 28th in the UK so hopefully will appear on that website before the close of the year. A friend also told me that they were considering an all American TG especially for BBC America if they get the right people that would be great!

Get your Top Gear fix hear. This last season had some good entertainment. Particularly another visit to the USA in episode 2. http://www.hessmo.com/Hessmo/TG_Season_12.html

good luck finding a 25 year old seven thay are around but rare even in the UK. But on the bright side Early Caterhams show become eligable in a few years and you can get those at reasonable rates. But I really need a long cockpit version and thats many years away. Anything under 25 years is a pain I had to sell my seven of 9 years as there were no loop holes and seemed to be further complicated at the state level.

"Original Lotus 7’s are approaching $100,000, Caterhams are selling in the min 50’s range" seems a very optimistic statement!

I think the #1013 number is the Arch chassis Jig number. My Caterham had a similar number stamped on the chassis at mounting point for the roll bar. A call to Arch would probably confirm that. Also the historian for the lotus 7 club UK has quite a lot of the factory data. And a quick look at their web site should track down that person. I am not sure that John Watson does that any more as they were looking for a new person to take on the role when i lived in the UK about 2 years ago. Nice project to have in the garage.

Newbie with a question about kids and 7's

tnttim I would rather drive the smart car they are safer than they appear much as the seven but you can't account for all the people that drive giant SUVs etc like they own the road. They should remove seat belts in those things and add a spike to the middle of the steering wheel then we may get some sanity back on the streets. Having smashed a seven head-on I can testify to the strength of the car and the ability to repair the car back to better than new. when all seemed beyond repair. it truly is a wonderfully simple and functional piece of engineering. -

I always used a Britax Roundabout seat for my little guy. I could secure it with the cars 4 point very well and he used the 5 point harness that was part of the seat. It all worked very well and we both enjoyed the time on the road. I always take the view that everyone else on the road is an idiot just as if i were on two wheels. -
Great News in my opinion and about time we had a newer generation of engines available. Now I will not feel so bad about letting the Rover engined car go. Now where is that piggy bank, time to count my pennies i think.

It is $30k just the thick end of 30k. Tan Seats with a black interior is strange looking to me. The roll bar looks to be the later standard type as was fitted to the R500 early on beefier but no diagonal. Still surprised how much they go for here in the USA. I will have to keep saving if 7 ownership is to happen again.

The BDR700 maybe the fastest. I think he used a Hart420R engine and the Caterham weighed in at 415kgs see link for more And more data here on the UK club forum http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=117441 And this suggested a Turbo to come but I could not find reference to this when I searched.

Is it possible to have a long term "relationship" with a 7?
Andrew replied to Kitcat's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Oh Yes! a long term relationship is possible. I am at 9 years (in the UK) and I was in the US for 6 of those just selling after all that time to move back to PA. But the deal with the management is I have the funding for the next one I f I could have imported the one I have it would have been first in the container. Its never too late and you only live once right. A
