  1. haha I wish... Toyota has a test track north of phoenix that I am interviewing at. Junkyards just make it a happier place to live. Are there many seven owners around phoenix?
  2. I am a student right now, but have done a lot of work with suspensions and handling... are there aircraft junkyards out there too?
  3. Im looking at a job just north of Phoenix doing some automotive stuff and am wondering what anyone in the area thinks of the place. I've lived in Atlanta my last few years and with the recent cold spell, Az is looking nicer and nicer. Specifically...hows the car scene in Arizona? Are there junkyards?
  4. Awesome find! I got one at target and am looking for more. Couldn't stop smiling!
  5. I need some inspiration for my cold weather 7 fashion. Its starting to get chilly and soon my car will be drivable again...although minus a turbo :[ Post some pics of your scarfs/hats/jackets...i need some ideas
  6. Hehe, the R888's need to be pushed a little too hard for my comfort level, but yes, they will slide (also the reason I'm in the market for tires >_ MHKflyer52- It is foolish to think that drifting is faster, and I know better. It is however, one of the most fun things to do in an automobile. Gymkhana is really the only place it is of merit (well, besides drifting itself). While I am no professional, I do participate in closed course events for this kind of thing. I would like to add that aggressively lifting the throttle can induce oversteer as well. Ill take a look into the Federals and the suggestions by turboeric...thanks guys!
  7. So my current set of tires are toyo R888's on some toyota 14" rims. They have fantastic amounts of grip, but doing a gymkhana even brought the rear tires to 0 tread (sunny days only anyways!). They seem to have too much grip for street driving...it is hard to get the car to slide or step out at all. Toyo and Nitto (which is still toyo) seem to have the only 14" performance tires out there. I've looked at the toyo T1R as a replacement but they are still pricey, even with 'friend' pricing from a toyo employee. I'm a college student... Would running a full set of nexen all season tires on my locost be regrettable? I have all season tires on my stock 1985 saab 900 and love driving the snot out of it. Am I right that all out power and grip may not be the most fun?
  8. drove my car to work sans muffler. It wasn't too loud (mmm turbo), but the exhaust fumes suck. I wished I lived out of the city...all we have here is on/off ramps [evilgrin]
  9. What sort of radiator/cooling setups are you high power guys running? I'm at 200hp on a turbo 4 and my temperature creeps a bit with a civic radiator and spal fan when I push it for extended time. Im running about 30% antifreeze and a bottle of water wetter.
  10. I had a similar problem after I swapped engines. Coming down the backside of speedbumps compresses my front suspension enough to tap the pan. Its got some distortion wrinkles. After unsuccessfully raising the cars ride heigh I made some spacer plates for the engine mounts out of 1/4" aluminum. That did the trick.
  11. I'm in fulton county and had no trouble getting my car on the road.
  12. What'd you say about obscuring the license plate?
  13. at drifting events I only let girls ride along for weight balance reasons
  14. the engine swap is done and megasquirt has been tuned. I still need to add an intercooler and tune the acceleration enrichment to be 100%. The car is vastly more enjoyable to drive now. I think its a combination of breathing less exhaust (its on the passenger side now), a quieter exhaust (mmm turbo), better seating position, and its much easier to start up now (little gizmos like fast idle). Where I used to drive it only because I thought that I should, I now look for opportunities to drive it.
  15. Whats the maximum precipitation that you'll take your car out in? i've been bumming all weekend...rain rain rain and no wipers :/
