  4. I'm not so sure CHP will like the current configuration of my car so much

  8. You know what's more disappointing than coming home and not seeing the box you expected at the front door? When the box is there, you open it, and the part inside is the wrong part. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cuss.gif http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/leaving.gif
  9. Yup, just ran out of time last night.
  10. I wanted something with integrated low beam, high beam, directional and running lights.
  11. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif Classic
  12. Rob, when I got the car, the lights were directly wired to the switch. I replaced the switch, and put the lights, ignition, etc... through relays last year. The PIAA lights come complete with their own harness, fuses and relays and power/low/high switch. The draw more current than regular DOT lights from what I've been told, but I haven't seen that (nor looked for it) in writing.
  13. This is from Colorado's code: (1) (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (4) of this section, it is unlawful for a person to knowingly engage in a speed contest on a highway. (b) For purposes of this section, "speed contest" means the operation of one or more motor vehicles to conduct a race or a time trial, including but not limited to rapid acceleration, exceeding reasonable and prude speeds for highways and existing traffic conditions, vying for position, or performing one or more lane changes in an attempt to gain advantage over one or more of the other racing participants.
  14. California's definition: “street racing” means operating a motor vehicle in a race with another motor vehicle on a street, road, highway or other public place.”
  15. That's exactly what I'm talking about. standing start races... and yes, any highway patrol would consider that racing, unless, of course, you did it in a Prius http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif There are all types of names for it. You don't even have to do it against anyone else, break the speed limit, nor lose traction to get an "exhibition of speed" ticket at the discretion of the officer.
  16. Rob, CONGRATS!!! I know this has been in the works for a LONG TIME.
  17. Wiring is done, lights are mounted. Night vision is much better now. I still have to powdercoat the old brackets. Some pics of everything off, parking lamps, lows and highs... http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/CIMG1058.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/CIMG1059.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/CIMG1060.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/CIMG1061.JPGslngsht2006-10-11 20:13:26
  18. They're very hard to find around here anymore (extremely stiff street racing fines). Even proper dragstrips are being shut down due to developments. Around here, the best known one was an hour from my house in Hagerstown: Dual highway. This is where all the hot rods, T buckets, etc... used to go Friday nights.
  19. Turnout from Texas is outstanding!
  20. Thanks for all the input.
  21. hmmmm. Hadn't thought of it. Worth looking into to see what the locals say. We may not need big lights down there, because the corners are close together, and we can't bend the light http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif
  22. I can see the prowler connection for sure. I think I'll be happy with the way they look in the front. What I miss with the chrome round lights is what you see from the driver view.
  23. For those of you who have it, do you have any problem with oxidation?
  24. If it's not too cold out (above 60 degrees), I just slip on some noise cancelling headphones. You can still hear everything around you pretty well. It takes the edge off the exhaust noise and wind noise, and keeps your ears warm, without taking away the open feeling.
  25. of the round chrome headlights, but I'm upgrading to PIAA 4000 combination lights. I ordered them yesterday, and to my surprise, the mod fairy had dropped them off when I got home http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif They're mounted now, but I still have to wire them in. All I can say is I lit them up in the garage, and they make my old lights look very faint. Here's a pic of the lens. On mine, the main projectors aren't so blue and yellow... both are clear. http://www.truckcustomizers.com/images/prods/PIA/K4PIA268.1.jpg Here's a poor pic of one test fitted to my car. Fenders are gone for the moment. I hear the mod fairy will be stopping by again this week with some aluminum cycle fenders http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/yesnod.gif The brackets will be cut short, and the side markers (which nobody could see) will be eliminated, since the new lights are 4 in 1. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061010_212338_CIMG1052.JPGslngsht2006-10-10 21:27:23
