  1. I tried it for the first time this morning. Figured it's better than coming to work looking like rudolph. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif It felt very out of place, but on the other hand, I was warm.
  2. All, a quick update. We have finally filed all the necessary paperwork for the corporation and what's required to get a nonprofit status. I haven't posted much lately, because dealing with IRS and the state goes at a very un-LSiS like pace. There are a few more steps before the club can be officially "open". Thanks for everyone's patience and suggestions.
  3. I didn't think there was going to be a way around it. Just making sure I wasn't missing the obvious.
  4. Man, don't you just love it when the part you need just happens to be sitting around?
  5. Boy I'm sure glad I didn't pick this weekend. It's raining like crazy (how does that go? like a cow pissing on a flat rock?) http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif
  6. The date for this is set for Oct 17th.
  7. Sal, as you removed the rivets, did you just push the back side of the rivet into the frame? I don't see any way to recover it. I have to remove a few rivets here and there...
  8. At some point in the future, I WILL paint my car. Currently it is some variation of British Racing Green, which looks decent on the car. There are several other options that I think look very nice. Here they are: BRG, which is what I have BRG with single yellow stripe Blue with single white stripe Bright yellow Black on black (complete black, including wheels) - I saw Chrisf's pic of his car, and flat / satin black looked surprisingly nice to me. My personal front runners are BRG/Yellow, Blue/White, or Black. The thing is, I'm not sure how much I will like black in person. It sure did look sharp in the pictures. What other color combos do you think work well?
  9. Problem is fixed!
  10. All, the site is having problems sending notification emails, so if you have subscribed to threads, or get private messages, you won't get a notification. Also, you will probably see an error after you reply to a post, even though your reply will be displayed. I'll update once the issue is resolved.
  11. congrats. I'll guess we'll have to chip in and buy you a digi cam to share in the joy http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif
  12. What am i missing... i have the free version of google earth. it opens the KMZ file, but not much I can do from there...
  13. Chris, Thanks very much for the offer. I'll drop you a note after you come back. I'm sure you are busy getting ready. I'll drop by with my son, and we can try and see if it fits him. Thanks again.
  14. There will be a weekday autox school put on by the DC SCCA chapter sometime between Oct 16 and Oct 20th. These classes are awesome as you get about 40 runs in, many with the instructor riding shotgun. There is alot of individualized instructions. If you are interested, email me. I'm not organizing this one. As soon as I find more specifics from the organizers, I will post it. The site will be either at Aberdeen, MD (North of Baltimore), or in Frederick, MD.slngsht2006-10-03 11:30:32
  15. By the way, this what Al's James Glickenhaus post is about... IMHO, this is WAY better looking than the Enzo: http://www.jalopnik.com/assets/resources/2006/07/glickenhaus_ferrari_2.jpg
  16. Al, I registered successfully, and submitted a comment to "A public apology to James Glickenhaus". But it still says 0 comments. Let me know...
  17. I have google earth basic, and am able to open the KML file, which shows me the path. Is there more? Like a timeline / play feature?
  18. well, last thing to get done on the car this weekend was to shorten the balance bar between the two master cylinders - I had no room for adjustment without hitting the bracket. While I was doing that, I noticed by throttle doesn't open the butterflies all the way http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/willy_nilly.gif I feel like I found free power - I'll know tomorrow. Looked like about 10 - 15 degrees.
  19. I agree, HANS device would be overkill. I just wanted to make sure there is no common practice out there for all those folks who strap their 7 year old in a Seven, with a helmet on http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif
  20. Thanks. That looks like it reduces the weight the neck supports vertically. I'm worried about an impact, and the weight the neck has to support through the jolt (fore and aft or side load)
  21. I just bought my son a DOT helmet. The purpose is mostly to keep the wind out of his eyes and ears, so he can enjoy the ride more. I can't help but think that the helmet is pretty heavy, and with even a light jolt, he may hurt his neck. What type of devices are available to protect against this?
  22. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif It was SUCH a nice day here. Only managed a 10 minute drive
  23. Finally got a chance to work on the car a few hours this weekend. Powdercoated the links, made some aluminum spacers and mounted everything up. (note, the bottom link is in single shear. All the rest are in double. A little strange: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061001_115210_CIMG1047.JPG A better view of the link and the spacers. I also made the orange piece as a suspension stop. It didn't have any, and there was a clearance issue with the driveshaft when the rear wheels were at the bottom of their travel: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061001_115445_CIMG1049.JPG Finally, got a helmet for my son (and one for myself). It is absolutely beautiful outside today: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061001_115548_CIMG1048.JPG No more problems for the eyes or ears at highway speeds.
  24. No worries man. I'm only in my late 30s, but my body is already starting to complain.
  25. Nice Vid! God, I have the urge to go for a spin now http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif
