  1. You all have been super helpful. Luckily, I was able to find the same size wheel cylinder from NAPA. Wheel Cylinder - Right Rear UP 370087 | Buy Online - NAPA Auto Parts (napaonline.com) That was great because I got it quickly. However... 1) In my haste, I accidentally ordered two rear righthand cylinders. A few checks online and determined the difference between the RH and LH is the placement of the bleeder screws. Does it matter if I use two RH? (I'll probably get a LH one just because I'll sleep better) 2) Bigger question... My configuration is a break line from the master cylinder into the rear RH cylinder. Then a line out of the RH wheel cylinder, across the axle into the LH cylinder which then has the bleeder valve on the outlet. (So a single bleeder valve at the furthest point). Is that an ok configuration or should I modify so each wheel has an independent cylinder with its own bleeder screw?
  2. It probably is Girling. But I can't find a number match or an exact visual match. It looks just like this the one in the ebay link: Lucas Girling Classic Ford Wheel Cylinder 64677521 | eBay with the exception that my pistons haves slots. The number on mine is 74350485
  3. I've had an ongoing brake fluid leak from my rear wheel and finally dove into this weekend. Looks like the culprit is a leaky wheel cylinder (and now a torn boot as I got into more). Are there a "standard" Lotus 7 / Early Caterham brake components or is it just find "close enough"? It's a 9" drum, 1.75 inch shoes, and 0.75 inch bore on the wheel cylinder.
  4. I’ll hand it to VA DMV. It wasn’t easy, but after writing everything up and talking to the right person in Richmond, I was finally able to get it all squared away.
  5. Thanks @Carlb. This might be exactly what I need. I'll let you know how it goes.
  6. So now outcome yet. To have a hope at changing the registration year, I have to go to the main DMV in Richmond. But they only take pre-scheduled appointments which I could not get until mid October. In the meantime, what little 7 driving I do, I’m doing in the “I’ve done all I can do and I’ll beg for forgiveness if it bites me” mentality!
  7. Good eye, it is indeed!
  8. Recently picked this up this little fella. Didn't know much about the history of Lotus and Caterham, I just liked the car! It's been a blast to take to Cars & Coffee, etc. It's something different so it always gets a lot of looks. I've also learned that Lotus people are a tight knit group! One note related to the car... many of the previous owners seemed to have been meticulous pack rats and kept all the paperwork, manuals, receipts, etc. It's like a time capsule for the car and its been much appreciated for background information. I love driving the care and looking forward to meeting fellow 7-ers!
  9. I live in northern Virginia and recently purchased a '79 Caterham S7. Two owners ago it was registered in Indiana and issued a new VIN as a 2016 assembled / salvage vehicle. I don't know why it got changed to a 2016 but it has created a challenge to registering in VA. Because the car is titled as a 2016 salvage, it first has to have a VA safety inspection to 2016 standards, which it will not pass. So my top priority is to get it back to 1979 as an antique. I now have original Certificate of Origin from Caterham. I have an appointment with VA DMV to go in and try to explain what happened and hopefully get a reasonable person behind the counter. Anybody know why it might have been registered in IN as a 2016? Anyone had experience with registering a 7 in VA?
