    LOG 29

Thanks for that advice! I made my hotel reservations today. We should start a list or at least a count of the LSISs going. Taber

    LOG 29

I'm in the process of registering for Log 29, and as part of that, joining the Lotus Owners Group for a year. A question: Is the Saturday night buffet "worth it" for a 7 owner? Not really into formal dinners anyway, but I could envision an evening of discussing the club administration, suspensions on old Elites, the Formula one seasons (past and upcoming) etc. None of this would be as entertaining to me as a gathering of 7 owners at a less formal venue. What have you guys done in the past? Just looking for guidance before I sign up for--and commit another $100 to--a formal dinner! Taber
  3. NOT TO HIJACK A THREAD, I have the tank out of my 2007 SV right now. Third time since November. It developed a very small leak, and I'm still working on fixing it. I was having trouble getting the fuel pump mounting plate on the right side of the tank to seal; I think the plate was "crimped" and my attempts to tighten the six bolts, and the next time to replace the gasket, then to add a "gasket sealer" to the gasket have warped the plate beyond recovery. I'm working a "new" fix and will post if it works... Taber

    LOG 29

All, I'm new to the "car club meeting" business, but would really like to go to the LOG 29. Pictures of the hotel lead me to believe that I will be parked a long way from my room. Is this a problem? I have been very reluctant to leave the Caterham in a motel parking lot, esp. where I couldn't watch it from the window in my room. I understand that if you TOW the car with the right trailer, then you can lock it back up in the enclosed trailer. However, that also means that each of us would need about THREE parking spots. Does anyone know if the Hotel has that kind of parking room? I'd rather drive the Caterham--Birmingham is only about four hours from me. Really nervous about leaving the car in some parking lot for three nights or so. Any info would be appreciated.
  6. I'm 200lbs and 6'3" and have size 12 shoes. I can fit easily into the Cat SV with "standard" shoes. My usual problem is leg room, and I have to pull the seat forward an inch or two to fit right. That has only happened before in a '70s Caddie and an '80s Porsche. Good luck in your search.
  7. I wish Atlanta wasn't a five hour drive for me. But I notice that the Movie is broadcast over the radio--my Caterham does NOT have this modern option. Do most LSIS have a radio, or is the evening to discuss cars?? Taber
  8. It was years ago that I first sat in a "Classic" and had to get back out--weather equipment installed--and take off my shoes. I wasn't wearing "welt-less" driving shoes at the time. Now, at 200lbs, still 6'3" and still size 12 shoes, I have an "SV" and couldn't be happier with it. Of course, I'm not trying to squeeze it between any cones, etc. Just some spirited, but legal, road driving. Good luck with getting either one.
  9. Totally disregarding the above comment about Florida drivers, what part of FL are we talking? I have a Caterham 7SV in the "lower Alabama" region of FL just north of Ft Walton Beach. I don't post too often, again, I am part of the "BCC" generation--before computers and cellulars. Taber
  10. If you figured the cost, per pound, of a new run-of-the mill Caterham, it's in Ferrari territory. I've wanted a Caterham since about 1979, and feel great that I could afford my 2007 SV last year. But if you look at the price of an '80s Ferrari 308GTS, you could be a Ferrari driver for much cheaper.
  11. Apologies toSlngsht, but as Ian7 and Al indicate, the topics are inseperable. Regardless of your approach, and mine lasted from my first test drive in 1978 until ordering in 2007, I advise talking to Ben and Nate at RMSC first. The face-to-face knowledge is irreplaceable, in what was also one of my largest cash purchases. Even if you don't go with them--and cost would be the driver--the knowledge gained is worth the trip to Denver. I realize how fortunate I was to have the ability to order a Caterham. I wish I had picked up the used one in the UK in the late '70s, but I've finally overcome my mistake. Taber10
