  1. I attempted to send you a message but I think it was intercepted by a foreign power. I have added your King Canyon video to my Facebook page. I probably have a year to go on my "7" build and friends keep asking what the big attraction is. I want to show them. I didn't claim the vid as mine and I will certainly remove it if you wish. Thanks

  2. Jack,

Need some help with a question. Did you keep those reinforcing braces between your engine and transmission? There are about 6 and I'm not sure they are necessary. Sure would like to leave them off.

Wish you could have made it to the Roaring River get together couple of weeks ago. I spent some time drooling on Brent's and Cliff's cars. I figure another year before I'm finished with mine so I attended just for the shot of motivation. Cliff gave me a short ride through those windy roads. Hope the stains came out of his passenger seat.

I told them that one of the things I do to keeps me focused is to look at your Youtube vid every week or so. I love the sound of your car. It was the real deciding factor when I picked my drive train. I had always planned on building a Stalker, but retirement has a way of rearranging your financial realities. I'll still have my Seven but I'm now going the Locost route.

  3. Thanks for all the encouragement guys. I have a Dr. appointment and x-rays tomorrow. I'm trying to chronicle this adventure as best I can. I've got some pretty gruesome pics of my back opened up. It's a long way in to your spine. I was looking at the pics and asked the if the white thing was the back side of my belly button. Come to find out it was bone. Right now I'm just hoping to get started on my build soon. I don't feel like it will happen before next spring or summer. I may just have to find me an S-2 and forget about the build.
  4. I raced an MR2 in GT3. My best bud raced Legends. The day he got his Legends car we spent the day trying to tear it up. Anyway, first thing we found out was we didn't know how to look cool getting in and out. All we could do was fall our shoulders out the door and then crawl ourselves out onto the grounds. I never did get good at driving or getting in and out of that thing. He finally got cool enough to race it at DMS, Sebring, Laguna Seca, Infineon, Buttonwillow, etc. I did finally quit falling out the window of my Toyota. LIVE LIFE ON THE REV LIMITER!!! Racerdan
  5. Yeah, I don't doubt I can get in. It's the getting out that has me worried. A friend of mine a few years back spent over 4 hours in a formula ford in his garage. Bad arm and over weight. His wife still claims it was all an act. She says he could have gotten out if he wanted to.. She said he'd sleep in that car if she'd let him.
  6. I had mine done on August 1st and I'm still in some discomfort. My Doc says I'm way ahead of schedule but don't plan on being back on top for 8-12 months. I'm 62 and I've been fighting this since 92. The other 2 things that worry me are being able to pull myself in and out. I have quite a bit of stenosis(sp) and I may not get much of that back. Also, through lack of exercize, my ass width had increased exponentially. The construction will mean lots of bending stooping and reaching. Hope I can get there....or learn to compensate. Racerdan
  7. I was almost ready to start construction on my 7 but I got sidetracked with a 3 level spine fusion. I don't know what the long term prognosis is. Has anybody on here been through this? I'm not sure I'll ever be able to put a car on like a shoe again. Comments please.
  8. This is posted on the Dallas/Ft. Worth Craig's list today. http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/668942773.html
  9. I rode a 360 Bandido for a while around 1970...Quite a foul, mean, nasty machine. Oh, and fast..did I mention fast? RacerDan
  10. I'd like to hear some feedback on seats too. I had Kirkey in my GT-3 and they were OK for 30 minute races. I'm not sure if they would do for any extended length of time. I like the looks of the Cobra or Corbeau. My butt isn't that narrow either.
  11. I've always had a real soft spot for Panasports. I wanted to put them on my 914 but never did. They would look awsome on a 7.
  12. Does anyone know of a Minilite style wheel ie. Panasport; Rota, that has a 5 bolt pattern that will fit the Stalker?
  13. Russ I posted a reply but it must have gone into limbo... I'd love to come up in August. The first 914 event I attended was in Hot Springs and all I had to show was pictures of a pile of car parts. Wife and I love KC. We haven't been in a couple of years but love the Plaza lights at Christmas. I just realized I sent that other e-mail to you rather than post. "alzhiemers" Dan
  14. Mondo.....I loved racing bikes when I was younger but I really sucked at it. Spent a lot of time face down in the dirt. 4 wheels definately suits my sense of balance better. After leaving the fire service I stayed in safety as an inspector and coordinator. I'm retired now and so glad to be done trying to keep people from being dumb, then cleaning them up when they don't listen. JACK, WOW there are alot of Stalker guys on here. No, I haven't been up to Fred's yet. I was going to go to Hallett this weekend and watch him run his FV. My best friend is going to Hallett in a couple of weeks to run in a Vette meet and if I go then I might get some wheel time so I thought I'd pass on the vintage race. I warned Fred I'd be up in a few weeks. I need to find out how far along he is on his super. I want to see more than a pile of parts. A friend of mine in OKC is a streetrod builder and has lots of good connections. I put him on finding me a 3.4 motor yesterday.
  15. I've seen Fred Storer at Hallett a couple of times with his Stalker #4 car. I'm going to make a trip up to his shop in a week or two to see the super he's building.
