No racing for me. I will track it. Thinking this would be a good one to do some Autocross. Never done that before.

Have the mounting done of the ADU5. Basic power and ground hooked up. Running wires for oil pressure, coolant temp. Need to get all the sensors installed and wired in. But working on the basic programming/layout of the display. Here is what I have so far.

You know. It!

I have the CF on order so I went ahead and utilized my masters I have in CAD design this weekend. This way I can get my layout figured out prior to doing the cutting on the CF sheet. I found some different switches for the lights that will simplify the layout. In removing all the breakers this is going to make the right side empty. This will be a good place to mount the holder for the Garmin Catalyst. Tried to take the picture from where my eyes will be.

I did some measurements below the dash and where I have my seat I think it will be too low for me. Will do some more measuring after the seat is redone and prior to cutting a hold in a $800 piece of CF. Also thinking with it below it may not work with the placement needed for the ADU. This project will be measure a dozen times or more and cut once.

No ECU upgrade plan at this time. When/if I do will probably go with the EMU Black. I really like the MoTec I have in my Evora but probably will not go that route for this car.

Starting off the new year with the dash project. I was able to disable the key anti theft so I got rid of the key it had installed just for that. With that going to redo the electrical and install a key fob, push button start and stop. Get rid of all the mechanical gauges and go with a ADU5 display. Change out the dash to a CF sheet.

The trunk area was just a tank, bare aluminum and the fuel pump/filter. I moved the pump and filter back to underneath and finished out the trunk with some black interior carpet.

I agree!

'Tis the (upgrade) season! What are you doing?

Planned right now is, finish welding up exhaust. After that installing a Digital Guard Dawg PBS1 for keyless and pushbutton start. looking int a CF dash and replacing the instrumentation with a ECUMaster ADU5. -
Exhaust is a Holly flow master cat into a Holly flow monster muffler, basically glass pack. No tracks around here have noise limits.
-
The previous owner did put a heat vent over the exhaust. I am sure this was great for getting heat out of the engine bay but it did dump heat out of the right side that swirled into the passenger compartment. I removed the vent and did a fiberglass repair and paint touch up for now. My plan is to respray the entire car so this will have to do for now.

While I had the exhaust mocked up had to try it out even though it was taped together at the collector. Apologize for the feet in the video.
-
Also gettin closer on the exhaust replacement. Have the major part welded up. Have remove the collector and cut to fit the cat. Mocked the system up to verify fitment and alignment.

Ok back on topic. The new spring rates work great with the new shocks. Nice to have the double adjustable to fine tune everything. I have gotten the wheels powder coated and purchased some Lotus raised decals for the center caps. If you are needing some good raised logos I have had good luck with beststickers.net.

When I purchased my WCM all the documentation that came with it had the Factory VHS tape. I could not find it anywhere so curiosity got the best of me and I had it converted, since I did not have a VHS player anymore. As expected it is a cheesy factory tape.

I am not sure what spring rates were on mine. The manual calls out for 400 or 500# springs on the front. When I got mine it has a motorcycle type rear shock that rode terrible. It had a front sway bar that I took off. I took all the shocks off and replaced with new double adjustable QA1’a DD401’s with those I had to reduce spring rates a lot. I ended up with 220# rear, and 300# front. The fronts fit fine just installing upside down. The rears I had to install upside down and move to the inside of the upper mount to clear the driveshafts.

Trying to make time to be there, I will be in the Evora though.

Did not like the trailer brake light they had on the car. Bought the Catherham/Westfield style. I think these look a lot better, and with the amber turn signals you are less likely to be run into. I will have to run an additional wire since the turn and brake lights are separate now but that is not an issue.
-
Ok starting some initial changes. First one is a better 3rd brake light. I live in Dallas and do not want to get rear ended. Have returned the headlight housings to stock and installed some upgraded LED headlights with built in turn signals. Upgrading the turn signals to daytime running lights. Will post those when done. Also have ordered some Lotus 7 style rear lights. Converting the turn signals to yellow since those have proven to reduce rear end accidents.

I have studied this topic extensively and have come to the conclusion that New oil is the best.

Starting a project page for my new WCM. First thing I noticed was the ride and ride hight. Decided to update the shocks/springs. Opted for the QA1 double adjustable shocks. Ordered the 300lb springs for the back and the 400lb for the front as the kit instruction listed. These shocks are a larger body shock but looked like I could make them work. I was shooting for a 12 inch shock ride hight for the car. The car had a 12 inch in the front and 11 inch in the back. Once installing the shock I had to mount both front upside down to clear. The back I had to mount upside down and mount the upper mount inside the mount instead of between. But at that all cleared good. Setting up ride hight notice that there was spring slack at extension. Did some spring calculations and came back at 266lb spring for the front and 166 springs for the back. Ordered 220 springs for the back and going to move the 300lb springs to the front this should fix the spring slack issue. A couple of projects in the works are I have a new set of R888R tires for it. While I have the wheels off will get them powder coated black. Also have a more original exhaust setup to weld up. High flow cat, and a flow monster exhaust. I have a lot of other updates I want to do and will post them as this project continues.

Do you have a half hood for your Caterham?
Grady replied to Saudio's topic in General Sevens Discussion
On a trailer I would do the full hood. You will have more turbulence sitting on a trailer and more likely to have water swirl around and get inside.
