  1. Have drill, will travel. The carbon is very easy to modify, but the plastic socket around the ball has to be altered and no way to avoid nicking the ball a bit.
  2. Got ‘er done! Studied it a bit and jumped in. A somewhat delicate modification of the mirror body and part of the mount for the ball joint enabled enough angle to mount the nice mirror in a usable way. Being a retired Dentist helped, a straight handpiece and what I call a flame shaped acrylic bur worked great on the carbon. A straight 557 fissure bur cleaned up the delicate part right up to the ball joint. 2.5 illuminated magnification eyewear quite handy. Not driven it yet, just got in a mood and fixed it.
  3. Same mount I received, the forward side of the mirror is quite convex. Going to take considerable modification.
  4. Nice. Could you show us a view from the side? Looks like I need to prepare a 3/4” long channel to give it a prayer of being usable with this mount. i could use a badge like that for my steering whell as well. Looks thick and solid.
  5. Received the silvery mirror today. Nice looking piece. A photo hard to capture the depth of the material. But, there no way the “universal” bracket can mount it, if I want to see what’s behind us, not flying along behind us. I’ve reached out to Kamispeed, not expected back yet. But have any of you circumvented this issue?
  6. Octolock phone mount placed today.
  7. With Uglyfast at C&C this morning
  8. I’ll be seeing you 😊 Seriously, my last name Harris ends is ‘s’ so I am particularly aware of the slippery slope people get in with plurals and possessives. A proper tongue can not pronounce some of these efforts so they are disfavoured. “There are a lot of Harris that live down that way” ”Is this Harris’ car?”
  9. I’m 6’1” plenty room in all the various Lotus we’ve had, and the Caterham Seven. But more importantly, please don’t use that word 😊
  10. “Barely. By the closest of margins”
  11. The reason manufacturing left the US is because labor, often the major overhead item, was less costly. American laborers expect to be at least middle class with healthcare and holidays and vacations and retirement plans. Own a house, all that stuff that’s been normal for us. The only way the arithmetic works is if the US can get enough people poor and desperate enough to be willing to live like Chinese laborers. Seems like we are unavoidably on that trajectory, and it does not matter all that much who’s in charge in terms of our Culture’s destination. Regardless of who is driving we can hear and now smell the waterfall ahead.
  12. Those comically awful switches are a precious connection to our pasts, back when we struggled to get British Leyland cars to get us from place to place still assembled. Each time I use one in the 7 I think back to thrill of arriving somewhere.
  13. Bit the bullit. Thinking the silver will complement the silvery theme underway with the new stripes this week and the silvery harness. We’ll see.
