I use a piece of thin flexible acetate to aid the inner lip of the seal to ride over the crank w/o folding.

I use a little grease on the inner seal diameter to minimize snagging.

Finally I check that the inner aspect has not folded by running a small greasy screwdriver blade that happens to be worn and rounded with age/use around the crank seal contact area.

A similar item to that tool is often provided with the seal as it helps the seal retain its shape during storage and transportation, but is not strictly necessary, imo.

Just being careful, patient and double checking the inner lip to prevent distortion is enough.

From your first pic, the installer was lucky not to lose the tension spring of the seal into the sump.

I'd recommend 30 mins or less after the engine has been at operating temp.

If the plug backs out hard when the engine is hot, it may be revealing a leaky head gasket into that cylinder, imo.

I use copper based antiseize. the aluminum based stuff is more likely to dry out and gall after several heat cycles,imo.

I don't Have a bouncy tach... Zx1 on 45's with Webcon ignition system.

Ground or crossfeed issue with the ignition,maybe.

I believe that your sensor is not grounded.

Try a short piece of wire with a male spade connector on one end and a loop on the other. use an existing bolt/stud to hook the loop end to a metallic area of the head.

then using a small hose clamp, clamp the spade terminal, to the metal body of the sensor after sanding the body for good conductivity.

The pulley teeth do look coarse sanded.

I use Focus sport ones.

I think that The belts will stretch when the engine expands as it warms from ambient to operating temp, but after an age the belt remains stretched as it hardens due to age, heat and the oily vapors under the bonnet.

Yeah, It already takes about 5 minutes to get in get the harnesses on, helmet, gloves, cameras on, etc. Adding the cage climb and a HANS device, should ad a few more minutes. Good thing I bought a Cool Shirt for those warm July days. :drool: Nothing like baking in nomex in the hot sun while sitting in Pit Lane.

iirc cars up to MY 2000 had 4.11 rear ends and then 3.91 from 2001 up.

I suspect that You'd know it if you did happen to have a Quaife slippy diff...

I can't see the much of the speedo and tach either, but the shape, size, and position of the steering wheel was ok.

I'm not comfortable with the idea of the absent segment of these "track" style wheels. I looked at them and had visions of grabbing a "handful of air" whilst trying to catch a tank slapper. Plus I don't think my steering rack is quick enough for me to hold the wheel constantly at 9 and 3.

I added programable, sequential shift lights to the scuttle and an electronic remote speedo by SPA design just to the right of the steering wheel.

Sometimes I also use a Garmin Fortrex 200 GPS widget that has a Speedometer page with good sized numerals, that I stick to the bottom steering wheel spoke with the extra grippy velcro.

I use this product in my Birkin. I pull the tach signal off the engine speed wire from the ECU to the tach. Engine is sparked by a standard coil for the Zetec.

I slip my left foot under the clutch pedal and rest it against the upright brace located against the skin.

I use a smallish tarp/bungees to cover the cockpit and engine cover (to prevent engine misfiring) when the car is outdoors overnight.

I have a covercraft that fits the VW corrado for longer term. it is rather loose fitting but better than nothing.
