  1. Hi there, You shouldn't need to e-test the car if it's registered as a kit (even though it's a Cat). If there's a "K" in the 5th (I think it's the fifth) character of the VIN, then you are exempt. At any rate, pls pm me with your asking price. Thanks,
  2. Good to know as I'm brand new to the car, the motor etc. so I'm sure I'll have tonnes of questions etc. moving forward. I did note that the car wasn't as quick as I would have expected during accel but it seemd to build up nicely after 5k rpm.
  3. Yes. That's the one.
  4. Thanks guys. I've actually just down a deposit on a 94 hpc. Hoping to bring it home soon but I'm currently buried in a home reno that will likely be finished in two weeks and on the market at which point I'll be able to work out the details and tasks to get the car home. I believe the link to the one I bought was sent to me by you guys so for that I'm grateful. Good bunch of chaps in this forum I can see and I'm looking forward to being active in the community. Cheers guys,
  5. Thanks again guys, Not sure if the BEC has reverse actually.... Thanks for the info on the importing as well. It seems that I may go this route if I get up enough courage In the meantime, there are a couple locally that I'm mulling over etc. but slims pickins it is I'm afraid. My wish list is: Zetec/Duratec, IRS or Dedion and cycle fenders. Preferably a CAT but open to other options as well. It's all I think about these days.... Jeez, I got it real bad
  6. Thanks for asking Canadian 7, The search is coming along I suppose albeit not as fast as i would prefer as the inventory is so thin in Canada. I would still like to entertain the importing possibility but I keep hearing conflicting opinions on whether this is even possible. I spoke with RIV, Customs and the MTO and all say providing the car is over 15yrs old including proof of build, that I should be able to bring it. Also, that I woudln't have a problem getting it registered and Ontario compliant etc. However, reaearch on different forums etc. seem to say otherwise. Apparently it's like flipping a coin so it doesn't give me a lot of confidence as I fear buying a car that I could never drive legally on the road for one reason or another. There is a really nice Hyabusa powered 7 that I do have my eye on and the chasis is among the nicest 7s I've seen but I'm still on the fence about a BEC vs a CEC for the reasons of being harder to maintain (as I'm not a wrencher) etc. and overall streetability as the car I will buy will be 90% for the street. Would love to hear opnions and as always would appreciate a heads up should anyone have any info on the importing issues or learns of any 7's for sale. Cheers Guys,
  7. Thanks again guys. A most helpful bunch you all have been. I just can't wait to become a proper member Let's see what the 7 God's have in store for me
  8. Wow, that's brilliant. I just don't think I could wait that long lol. At any rate, does this mean it is possible to bring in 7's that are over 15yrs into Ontario, Canada?
  9. Thanks guys. The above and some additional research has eased my mind a little about the live axle issue. Have any of you imported fro the US? Did you have trouble registering etc. I'm in Ontario and spoke with the RIV, Customs and MTO and all mentioned that providing the car was over 15yrs that importing was possible. Not sure if that's everyone's understanding so I thought I'd ask for your thoughts to see if any of you successfuly managed this in the past.
  10. Thanks for that twobone. Unfortunately RHD and no price has been provided. Have heard funny things about Gentry Lane and a few years back when I was interested in one of their Exige's, I wasn't very well recieved so I'm hesitant to pursue their cars. I'm thinking more and more that I will take advantage of the 15 yrs rule and import one from the US. Preferably one with either a Dedion or IRS, lsd and LHD etc.
  11. Hi Mr. Mustang, Is your Birkin a live axle model?
  12. Thanks, Funny thing is I haven't yet come across any Westfields in my searches. Some say that the live axle isn't really an issue per se but I guess to each their own. I'm on the fence about the issue myself as I haven't experienced either as of yet.
  13. Hi Guys, So, I've managed to find a few options for some prospects however one of the standouts is a live rear axle car that I'm not 100% comfortable with. Perhaps you guys can let me know your thoughts on these vs. IRS etc. One of the goals for this car would be track days and without IRS or LSD, I'm frankly a bit concerned. Would love to hear your thoughts... Thanks in advance,
  14. wow great resources. Thanks a bunch guys and I honestly cannot wait to become a 7 owner. Thanks for your help.
  15. Thanks guys, I'd prefer a Cat or a Birkin if I had the choice but I'd consider others. Apparently, we can import if older than 15 yrs so I'm also exploring this option.
  16. Hi guys. Wondering if someone can fill me in the best way to go about picking up one these sevens. There are only a prescious few in Ontario and from what I gather, importing is an issue. I'm interested in a street legal (Ontario) Birkin or Caterham. What's the consensus on how to acquire. Thanks in advance guys,
  17. Thanks again guys, very helpful you have been. I actually found a nice MK Kit in the US but due to importing laws, I cannot pick it up. Would any of yo uknow any loopholes to bring this car to Canada?
  18. Thanks Guys, I have actually been speaking with the owner on this one but if Deman is no longer making these cars, where could get service etc? Would parts then be an issue if Deman is no longer available/ I tried calling Deman and left a VM also. I rec'd no response. Thanks very much guys,
  19. Hi there, As the subject title states, I'm currently lookinng for a replica 7 that I could either buy in Canada or import (legally) to Canada. I've read that in order to bring kits into Canada, they must be at least 15 years old. I'd preferably like to purchase in Canada but don't seem to be having luck with my search as these cars are rarer than I had imagined. Should anyone know of a 7 for sale that is eligable for import into Canada or knows of a Canadidan seller, please let me know. I'd prefer a hayabusa powered car as I'll be using this car for 90% track usage with 10% street leisure. Thanks in advance,
