  1. HI Guys, Just wanted to say hello again. Been a while since I posted on this forum as I sold my 94 HPC. I missed it so much that I just put down my deposit yesterday for a 2006 CSR 200. I should have it delivered by end of month and then it's time for the registration etc. I don't have many pics as the car was pretty much bought sight unseen but it is apparently the first CSR to be sold second hand in Canada and it's quite a nice spec. Anyways, looking forward to rejoining the community ad I'll post some pics once I figure out how to do so again. Cheers, Pavan
  2. Just listed my 94 Caterham HPC in Ontario, Canada in case anyone local is interested. Link below: http://m.autotrader.ca/a/Caterham/Super+7/BURLINGTON/Ontario/19_10154302_/?prx=-1&orup=3_10_3&srt=3&showVs=1
  3. Hi guys, More newb growing pains for me I'm afraid. After purchasing my 1994 HPC with a C20Xe, I had a friend (who has the same model, extremely rare in Toronto or in Canada for that matter) test the car and give it a once over. He mentioned that he noticed the engine was suffering from oil surge under braking etc. I pulled the sump pan today only to find the baffle in great shape so I simply re-installed the pan. Now I have three areas of concern that I could use some help with. 1. How can I address the oil surge issue as I do wish to track the car at some point. 2. I noticed a tranny leak at the input AND output of the tranny. How can these be fixed and what parts would I need? Do the engine need to be pulled for this work? The leaks aren't too terrible but they do bother me and my clean garage floor I'm afraid. Thanks a bunch gents, -
  4. Wow, beautiful addition to the stable. Congrats on the purchase! Please provide specs etc. Looks like a great example.
  5. I was going to buy a Birkin from a dealer in Calgary before I bought my HPC and the dealer was willing to have it titled and insured so I know it's possible. Also, just bc Birkin doesn't show up on the register doesn't mean that this car couldn't be listed as "kit". This would also exempt the emissions requirement.
  6. Beautiful! Would love to hear details on this one. Did you sell your seven for this? Would love to hear the comparisons.
  7. Wishing a Speedy recovery mate. These cars aren't likely not going to win a fight with the regular cars out there so everyone be safe and careful.
  8. Hi guys, Just read on the Blatchat forum that DTA has officially gone out of business. As my Cat uses this system, I wonder how difficult it will be to service or acquire parts moving forward. Either way, souring sounds like it may be a bit of a stretch.
  9. I think if I end up doing the conversion, it would likely be for aesthetic reasons primarily. Still on the fence...
  10. That's a good point. I have seen some conversions that are better then others in terms of the side skin holes. Some folks just put in bolts or rivets to mask. Some of the examples looked pretty good.
  11. I'm actually in the process of acquiring the bits to do the clam to cycle swap. I don't have wide track so the swap won't be quite so simple. I do like my clams but I'd like to be able to switch back and forth from season to season if the mood strikes. Anyone have experience in doing the same?
  12. Holy moly, what kind of motor is in that thing? wow!! Sounds great and moves like a beast!
  13. Thanks for the advice Yellows7. I'll check it out. Question...where will I find the relay? Obviously, I'm very much a newb lol.
  14. Hi Guys, As some of you know, I've recently picked up an HPC Cat with a Vauxhaul 2.0 and DTA EMS. I had a freind help me sort my stripped gearbox plug by welding on another piece of metal which permitted the plug removal. Now. The mechanic who did the work is very knowledgeable and disconnected the battery to ensure no shortages as a result of the welding. As a result and unbeknowenst to me, this could have affected the DTA system and fuel pump as the fuel pump no longer pressurizes the engine for starting. When I bought the car I was told to turn the ignition kep a few times until the ticking of the fuel pump slowed and then I could crank the ignition all the way. Since I've reconnected the battery, the fuel pump keeps ticking and does not slow at all so the car is very difficult to start. Usually takes 10 tries now. So, my qyestion is, what can I do to reset the fuel pump so that it does it's job and pressurizes properly so I can start the car without issue? As always, thanks in advance,
  15. Thanks guys, Much appreciated. In turn I'll also try my hand at tinkering on my own as well for smaller things.
  16. Thanks for that. Problem is, there's only a bout an inch in which to work LOL. We'll see how it goes.
  17. Thanks guys, Yes, it's seems to be the allen wrench entry per the seller. It's just badly stripped so I'll be taking it a fellow Cat owner's place on the weekend to get her sorted. Might just have to create new drain plug to get access. We'll see but I'll certainly write an update as to the progress. Apparently it's not as dismal a scenario as I thought and it appears the fifth gear whine is due to the straight cut gears the original owner had installed. Not sure where the leak is coming from yet but hopefully, It won;t be too bad.
  18. Thanks guys, Unfortunately I dont thave the know how or the tools to pull a job like that. I was told minor leaks are no big deal and are quite common and that I should just for now ensure the gear box oil is topped up whcih is what I was attempting to do. If anyone in the TO area can help me out, I'd be more than happy to foot the bill handsomely. Thanks again guys,
  19. Hi Guys, Wonder if some of you 7 gurus might know some tips for me. I recently bought an HPC Cat and noticed that there is a gearbox leak so I've only driven the car home and was told to ensure there enough gear oil in the gearbox before venturing out on the streets again. I was told how to access the drain plug and bought a 10mm allen wrench that I cut down to size but it appears that either sizing is wrong or likely the nut is quite stripped from the inside. At any rate, there isn't much room to really get in there so I wondered if any of you had some tips or perhaps had a similar problem that you might have dealt with. At any rate, any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance,
  20. This one looks nice and the price is right. http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/Lotus/Seven/HARBOUR+GRACE+SOUTH/Newfoundland+and+Labrador/19_8392548_/?showcpo=ShowCPO&orup=1_15_0
  21. Congrats Ricko, someone got a hell of a deal.
  22. Thanks Ian, Might be a tad out of the way as I hopefully looking for a shop in Toronto preferably but they might suggest an affiliate of sorts.
  23. Hi guys, So, I've finally brought my 94 HPC home at last! I suppose i should change my user name now to Sevensought LOL. At any rate, it's been a long time coming but I'm happy to say that it will be registered on Wednesday. That being said, I'm now on the hunt for a suitable shop that knows these cars and who can manage all the maintenance etc. moving forward. If you guys know of any good shops in TO that can handle these types of cars, pls let me know as I'm certainly not a wrencher and would love to get acquainted with a proper shop who will get to know the car. Thanks in advance gents,
  24. Getting the car over may not be the issue. Even through customs due to the 15 yr rule but getting it registered etc in Ont. Nowthat's another banana Either way, whoever buys it is getting a steal!
  25. Excellent price for such a specimen. If not for the pre-cambrian importing & registration laws here in Canada (Ontario), I'd have snatched this up long ago. Best of luck with the sale. Shouldn't last long.
