  1. Out for lunch
  2. Thanks for the info! A couple shots from my first shakedown yesterday:
  3. This is indeed Al/Morgan's former car, and I'd love any history available on it!
  4. @Vovchandr So far all is well ECU wise *he says as he knocks on wood,* it was apparently tuned by Bisi of Bisimoto years ago. And @mca biggest thing search wise was being active and poking a bunch of people. Rich from Kampeña Motors ended up being the one to connect me with the owner but I reached out to 10+ individual people and suppliers.
  5. @Vovchandr Indeed, she's a Pectel gal. Curious what the difference between an SLR and a Superlight R is?
  6. Back from a long day of working to pay for this thing, thanks for the kind welcome! They're ITGs, starting to disintegrate a bit to the touch unfortunately. And really, the only thing making it a project is some disuse and deferred maintenance. And the fuel gauge. And a fair share of chips and scratches. Nothing I can't make my way through! I also owe a big thank you to @ratchetfor connecting me with the owner of this car, very excited to get going on it!
  7. Happy to say after a very long hunt and slightly drawn out purchasing process (no fault of the seller), I finally have a Caterham! I managed to snag a 2004 Superlight R, ~23k miles, 2 owners before me, and the all-important CA SB100 smog exemption. I'd say it's a hair more of a project than I was looking to get into, but I got tired of waiting for the perfect car and this checks nearly all the right boxes at a number I could live with. A 6-speed and 205 at the crank will help me forgive a lot of shortcomings 😂 Still deciding if I'm going to fix it up cosmetically or live with it as-is. Parts-wise, I'm on the hunt for a new foam filter for the ITBs, an appropriate timing belt kit (though it looks in good shape despite the age), and a few other odds and ends. 25 miles in and I'm loving it. Can't wait for some free time after work this weekend to really give it a real go!
  8. Took some time, but taking delivery of my new-to-me Ham today!
  9. I'm thankful this sold quickly, saved me from making a terrible decision 😂
  10. The buyer of the car in the last auction also has 27 previous bids on cars from the selling dealer w/ no buys...wondering if this is an account of an employee/owner there who bought it for inventory
  11. @JohnCh I'm quite an avid follower With most cars on the list it comes down to not being able to register it. The '98 Vauxhall 2.0 or the '16 Roadsport 140 would be great but neither could be easily plated here.
  12. Hi all, I feel like it's worth posting here because you never know what someone is sitting on thinking about getting rid of... After years of wanting one, I'm finally in a position to pick up a 7 rep of some variety and have been having a heck of a time finding what I'm looking for. My budget is around $35k on the top end, and I have some specific goals in mind, those being: -First and foremost, I need a car I can register in California. This means something with an existing California title, an SB100/BAR label from a previous life in California, something still on MSO (least preferred option), or something registered as "1964 Lotus" or the like (pretty much any pre-1969 year). If a car is a SUPER good deal I would be willing to consider others, I'd just have to go through the process of applying for the SB100 exemption again which is time/labor intensive. -I want something "modern." 1990+, de-dion/independent rear end -Modern drivetrain, be it Zetec or K-series or Hayabusa or the other kind of K series -I have a strong preference towards cycle fenders vs clamshells What doesn't matter to me: -I don't care if the body is a Caterham or a Birkin, I'm 5'10" 120 so I can likely fit in whatever variety of chassis -I can deal with cosmetic issues, upholstery issues, etc -I don't care about windscreen type I know about the Superlight R300 currently up on BAT, it's ideal for me but it looks like it'll be going out of budget so figure it's worth throwing it out here as well. I also have a Lotus Carlton I'm about to sell that could be a trade item with cash my way. Thanks, all!
