  1. Well, of course! All I can say is, DOH!
  2. Holy smoke, where did you find this! That is my car on the right, and this was taken around 2001. Mitch Leben (yellow) was picking his car up that day to take it home to Houston. Mitch, Dick Brink and I went for a drive and stopped at a park for a couple pictures.
  3. Longest distance in one day was about 400 miles during the USA 2005 Tour. That was enough for one day... I have had one wiring failure, two clutch failures, and one ball joint issue on the road, all many years ago. The underlying issues were addressed and the little car has been very reliable the last few years. I've had it over 21 years now and it still puts a smile on my face....
  4. A Locost running an "autotest"....
  5. The parking lot at the Slumgullion Earthflow in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado during the Se7ens Tour in 2005.
  6. I built my Birkin from the basic kit in 2000/2001. It fulfilled a life long ambition to build a car from scratch, introduced me to some really wonderful people, and driving it still puts a silly grin on my face. Right at 26,000 miles today including 4,000 on the USA2005 tour. It shares shop space and driving time now with my '86 MR2 and '65 Caddy. My heirs will be selling it after I am gone.....
  7. Another issue lies with the sources of raw materials needed to manufacture millions of batteries: https://www.automotiveworld.com/articles/risky-business-the-hidden-costs-of-ev-battery-raw-materials/
  8. As an old retired guy, I guess "daily driver" is kinda irrelevant. My commuter when I was still driving to an office was my 2005 Crown Victoria. Bought it in 2010 and it was literally a little old lady's car with only 13,800 miles From the looks of the undercarriage I don't think it had ever been out in the rain. To me it is the last real American sedan - big, RWD, V8, quiet, comfortable, reliable, has the towing capacity I need and is easy to work on. It has by far the best AC of any car I have ever owned which is an important feature here in Texas. This is an older picture but she still looks the same. Only 78,000 miles on her now. Barring misfortune, I have no intention of ever replacing it - my sons will be disposing of it after I'm gone.
  9. Hi! I'm wondering why you are asking? I have a Birkin manufactured in 2000 that I purchased as the basic kit. The steering rack, best I could figure out, is out of a South African Ford Escort from the '70's or '80's. You looking for parts or ? If you get a definitive answer as to the origin of the rack, please share the info here! Bernie Birkin chasis BIY1877
