  1. I'm now torn with another option.....the new Yamaha R1 is an I4, with a really, really throaty sound. DAMN!
  2. I know it's a new motor, I'm sure I can find a 1098, or even a 998 for less. Honestly, I'm still about 2 years out from starting this..so..there is time. I just want to do something really unique, not that a seven isn't already..the attraction of the supercharger wail, with the thump of the ducati just gives me chills thinking about it. Time for more research!
  3. So my plans were going to have me build either a rotary or turboed duratec..but, after talking with a friend the other day, I got caught up in a different thought process. I love the Megabusa..but..for me it's just lacking somewhere..not really sure what, but, there is something missing. Then it hit me...what about planting a different bike engine in..something with a little more grunt, little more noise..two less cylinders and a whole lotta Italian. Yep...Ducati. Say..mm..a supercharged 1198. 200+HP, over 100lb/ft of tq, and a 10k+ redline. And a sound that just cannot be beat. I'm not sure if it can be done, or if there is even enough room under a westy bonnet to fit the big twin. But the noise and the power would have to be mental, and so much more satisfying than a Hayabusa motor. Input? 99.999%of you know these cars better than I.
  4. Did this to a car dealer once in a Subie..it was his fault for not noticing the racing shoes I had on..I mean , c'mon..their yellow alpinestars. needless to say I'm not welcome at that dealer anymore. I can't wait to get my seven so I can do this kinda stuff.
  5. They actuall don't weigh much, honestly, a sprint car wing is 0.16g aluminum sheet. With rudder boards, it's about 37lbs for a 25+ square foot wing.
  6. Sprint car wings usually have a pretty thick chord, so, they will work at low speeds. I would say around 45mph you would see some real effects. Though, you won't need the huge endplates..those are there for catching air to help control huge slides.
  7. SCHAWEEET! Thanks...I can't wait to stuff one under the hood..well, when I get my westie that is!
  8. Has anyone ever put a renesis rotary into a newer westfield? I like the idea of a Hayabusa rev range, but not the utter destruction, and cost with that lump that will eventually come. Especially when a new crate renesis gors for about 6200, and a rebuild is 1200..not gonna find that with a Hayabusa..so..thoughts?
  9. It's not the color, I love blacked out everything. I guess I didn't know that wheels that big could go on a car like this. I get the caliper size too, I struggle with that on my SRT-4.
  10. To each his own, but that is the ugliest thing I have ever laid eyes on, almost like a rapper got his hands on it. I would stick with a proper size for these cars. It just looks all sorts out of proportion.
  11. I've got a Cobra, don't know the model, but it's saved my ass many, many times. And not always because I'm speeding intentionally, but because the cops around me are sticklers for speeders. I got dinged for a 43 in a 40 a few years ago..so..I like to be safe. It is a fairly good one, I usually pick up cops and the radar boxes at about 2mi+, it's a pretty normal range. The problem is, LIDAR is becoming very popular around here and that's much harder to defeat, and speed traps are games for the cops.
  12. Ah, well there ya go. It's a good thing it's not blown! I know it come down to room now, how much is that 30* difference going to make in your mounting, and hood clearances?
  13. How much shaft play is in the turbo? That will tell you right away if the oil seals are blown. At worst it's going to be the CHRA.
  14. Hey, it's all good..your car not mine. The 28R is a good snail, you should make some really good numbers with that. And your right..I see how tight that is, ridiculous.
  15. I can understand wanting clean lines, but, if you do a 3" out the side, with a small HKS style muffler, or even just an angled dump after a resonator it's still going to be much better than a 2.5 down the center. Even that it's only 8-10psi, there is much to be gained with a larger exhaust. My DD is an SRT-4, and with just a 3" DP, I gained about 12hp, and dropped my spool time by 400 revs....I hit full boost of 17psi at 2600rpm. I don't know what turbo you have, but if it's a TD-04(15G) 3" is a must!
  16. I would suggest 3" exhaust from turbo back. If you've never modded a turbo car before, it's all about flow. Backpressure doesn't mean much anymore. I know it seems REALLY big, but, 3" isn't bad and the extra 0.5in will net you some gains on spool, and HP. I don't know how much room is there as I've never seen a westfield in person, but, I would think REALLY hard about doing it.
  17. Anyone in or around an hours drive from Milwaukee have a Westfield I can come look at? I'm thinking about building one.
