  1. wow loren that's awesome. you certainly were patient with the build! i can't wait to see and hear it.
  2. i was filling up at a gas station and some young girls asked if my car was electric.
  3. very cool. what do they weigh?
  4. roman, the boot cover and console look fantastic! great work!
  5. i experienced that phenomenon myself, only i was quite lucky in that a gas station came into view just as i ran out of fuel. i coasted into the station and only had to push the car about 15 feet to the pump.
  6. Bruce K, thanks for the hard work! i would definitely like a copy. i have pm'ed my email.
  7. Texas World Speedway is in danger and needs your help. From a local news agency: “The College Station City Council will be asked March 27 to approve a $513 million dollar development that will eventually replace the Texas World Speedway. While outside the south city limits, the proposed “Speedway District” is within the extra-territorial jurisdiction. The developer is asking for the creation of a Municipal Utility District (MUD).” Please help save this historic track by signing the petition http://soonerbillz.com/SaveTWS/ and pass the link along.
  8. or how much alike you are. maybe he's your twin, separated at birth.
  9. tom, very interesting that you own both a gt-r and a seven. it's an unusual combination. i had several gt-r's in my run group at cota a while back, and they were amazingly fast. fast on the straights of course, but absurdly fast in the turns given their mass. faster than me in my seven in the turns, which was a bit demoralizing. i like to think that it was at least in part my suspension set up, but i know it was mostly my lack of skill. from all i've read i don't really think the gt-r is where it's at for me in a "stupid" car -- i go more for the visceral experience -- but i say that never having driven one. i'll have to drive one some day.
  10. thanks bill!
  11. hey does anyone here have experience with serpent express trailers? http://www.serpentexpress.com/specifications.html i've been looking for a small, lightweight trailer myself, one that could be hauled with a small suv, and these look pretty nice. developed specifically for cobras but look like they would work well for sevens. car plus trailer would weigh less than than 3000 lbs. i've read a number of threads here about trailers, but don't recall seeing this one mentioned.
  12. i'm pretty sure she turned.
  13. jim, i'm pretty sure it's usually the mgb rack from flaming river. that's what's on my car.
  14. jim, it sounds like you have a 3.55, eh?
  15. so, i evidently have a 3.5455 differential. 77mph by gps at ~3500 rpm. calculating by tire size i should be going 79mph with a 3.5455 at 3500 rpm. my car was billed as a 4.44 at sale and i didn't doubt it because the math works out pretty close if a secondary reduction gear is not considered. and i just found out about the secondary reduction gear. no wonder i have been confused. i mean, shifts just don't come up lightning fast in my car like they are described with a 4.44. anyway, i think it's just as well, as i'm happy with my current ratio. a 4.11 might be nice but i'm pretty sure for my purposes a 4.44 would be too short.
  16. oh, come on, get stupid! (just don't lift!!!) beautiful car.
  17. yeah if the weather cooperates i'll do that myself this weekend. i was told that my car had a 4.44 when i bought it, but that doesn't seem to be the case. whatever i have works for me fine, but i'm curious what it is. do you know if this secondary gear reduction in the S2000 transmissions is consistent in the ultralites? according to wikipedia, it's a 1.28 reduction gear for the F22 before it gets to the differential. i'm running 255/40/17's in the rear.
  18. now i'm really confused, thought i had a 4.44 but maybe not! at ~3500 rpm in 6th i'm going about 75 mph. with 6th at 0.763 and my 25" diameter tires the math supports this for 4.44 final drive ratio, but i had no idea that the S2000 transmission had a secondary gear reduction (1.208 for an F22?). that would place my final drive ratio at around 3.6! am i missing something?
  19. mondo, westtexas made this post early in this thread. i used the fastenal shoulder bolts and they worked great. getting the right length is critical. the length of the machined shoulder needs to equal the thickness of the spherical bearing in the rod end plus the thickness of the spacer in the bracket. when i replaced all the heims on my car, most had a little play, a few were completely shot. i'll bet half of the slop was from the fully threaded bolts rather than the actual heim joints.
  20. welcome aboard cobra, westtexas was right about the roads in your area. certainly the best time i've had on the street in my car has been in your area. i have found this site very helpful when shipping cars: http://www.transportreviews.com/
  21. you have a 4.44 final drive ratio? what rear tires were you running?
  22. wow that's surprising. i know i have seen higher indicated speeds in my ultralite, albeit with an erratic speedometer. and i haven't really tried to find the top speed (maybe i was there and didn't know it). now that i have a stable, functioning, and gps calibrated speedometer, i should determine what the true top speed is.
  23. thanks WestTexas, i'd forgotten about the 914 project with your son -- that's pretty awesome. please post some pics when you have a chance.
  24. james, i had awful service from momentum bmw myself but have been treated very well by advantage mid-town over the last 12 years. that's mostly a reflection of a great SA and mechanic though, both of whom have recently departed, so i'm not very optimistic about what the future holds.
  25. WestTexas, do you have any experience with renagade's products? an LS powered boxster sounds very interesting. so does an LS powered 928 for that matter...
