Al come on now man.. who are you trying to be now... GW Bush ? I do not get it. You ran for president and got elected in 09 then did nothing due to other obligations.. Ok, shit happens , but if you had problems that would not allow you to fill your duties then why not post that earlier... Now you list all of the qualities and points that you feel are needed for this position. WOW ! thats the most you have said in years.. Anyone ever wonder why there are thousands of members in this forum but just the same old handful that keep up the incestuous banter ? Or in the harsher words of another member I met recently .."a small goup of frats that smoke each others dick". So, if Al was Pres in Excile who the hell is Admin Slngshot? the head of USA 7 CIA?

How about Dill and Doe, cheap and easy, always gets a laugh, and I want the "Extra points if anyone includes activities my wife would like". -
is even worse that I feared. It would have been border line bad as a Speed Vision fill in, but, when you realise they have used the TopGear brand(well paid for it too I guess, and err yes Jeremy, review this will you) to sell it.....well it is embarrassing to watch, particularly if you told used to tell people how good the original Top Gear is and they need to watch it... They even took some of the original shows classic stunts , then diluted and Americanized them to the point of well, nothing. Sadly there appears to be not much chemistry ,interaction or even plain simple fun going on between these three hosts. Add to that the fact that they will never be allowed to say anything negative about any car on the show due to potentially loosing advertising $ and lawsuits. Sad. Oh, and I don't like any of the hosts either , so there !

I think 96 % seems high but in any event.... that was the assembled price of the car and included nearly 400 pounds in taxes, the big deal wth a kit was to avoid these taxes, hence , look at the cost of the parts from Lotus and the engine, box and axle and a truer, much lower price appears. With regard to the performance, and putting aside the top end, there was not much to touch it back then. This is a pretty nifty calculator and appears to be quite accurate : http://www.moneysorter.co.uk/calculator_inflation.html

Road test A car with a tuned Ford 1172 cc engine and close ratio gearbox was tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1958. It was found to have a top speed of 80.4 mph (129.4 km/h), could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 16.2 seconds and had a fuel consumption of 31.0 miles per imperial gallon (9.11 L/100 km; 25.8 mpg-US). The test car cost £1157 including taxes of £386. They commented that car could be bought in component form and then it would have cost £399 for the parts from Lotus, £100 for the Ford engine and gearbox and £27 for the BMC rear axle.[6]

First thing to do would be change out the 6 ft horsheshoe looped wire clutch cable to a hydraulic system. On RHD cars back thenit was a short travel cable(not a problem), when the cars were LHD the fix was to loop a monster cable to the slave, they stretch and break very easily;I know I had one. Isn't it amazing what a difference the type wheels make to the look of a car.

To me the main eye sore is the leachey looking squashed nostril air scoop ; other than that it really aint that bad. I agree on the bumper cross bars, I guess it would not be that big a deal to pull them off.

I really think it has character and they always did perform well. Car and Driver clocked 0-60 mph in a swift 4.8 seconds and a standing quarter-mile of 13.6 seconds at 101 mph. "It's like driving a Lotus 7 but with fewer rattles, twice the room, and twice the thrust," enthused tester John Phillips.
