  1. Hi James - can you remind me what class the Caterhams race in? I've found the SCCA schedule, but the class names are a mystery to me. If I do make it, it'll probably be for only part of the afternoon, so I want to make sure I'm there to see the 7s embarrassing the competition Edited to acknowledge that I didn't read the original post fully (E Production I see now!)
  2. Will do my best to get there - although there seems to be too much going on the same weekend (taking my son to Addison for his first airshow as well). Would also like to see the track as I've not been there before. Will look you up if I get there. Martin
  3. To back up the other comments, I ran a live axle Caterham for several years on track, and certainly didn't experience the symptoms you describe. My first port of call would be to remove the A frame bushes (i.e. not just a visual check) if you haven't already. Martin
  4. Maybe it's a slight optical illusion, but it actually looks like the Caterham in that picture is lower than the F1 car. Great colours as well.
  5. Following on from my post about being new to the US, I see that the range of 7 type cars over here is somewhat different to the UK (which is mainly Caterhams and Westfields, with a few Locosts thrown in). I did see the forum rules which ask us to avoid making adverse judgements on the different models, so maybe I'm on dangerous ground here, but I'd be keen to know what the common models are, and their advantages (hopefully that will keep the conversation positive!!) Perhaps if I put it into context - my main use would be on track (so I would want full rollcage, harnesses etc., or the ability to add them fairly easily), and a reasonable spec - 130-150bhp minimum perhaps. I'm not massively strong on the mechanical side, so would want something with good availability of parts and with a reasonably standard build (i.e. I'd prefer to avoid something that needs parts fabrication or personal "design"). Also reliability would be important, and I wouldn't want to go too old (perhaps 10 year old max). I've enjoyed some time with BECs and as much as I loved it, would prefer to go back to CECs for this one. Road legal would be good, but not essential. Sadly Caterhams look very expensive here (compared to the UK) and may be beyond my price range. The Birkins interest me as the pricing seems keener, and I've heard good things about them. Hard to say what my budget might be at the moment, but probably not more than $25k. Interested in your thoughts... Thanks all Martin
  6. Thanks everyone. Great to hear of some events not too far away - they'll go in my calendar. Will also be an opportunity perhaps to start inducting my son (he's only 21 months but is already nuts about cars - I swear I haven't been influencing him ) Hope to meet some of you in the not too distant future.
  7. Hi everyone I just found this forum (and wished I had some time ago) as I've been searching for 7 related "stuff" in the US for a while and hadn't got very far. A quick intro is probably in order... I moved to the US from the UK last year, and have been a regular on the Blatchat forum over there since 2000, when I first bought a Caterham 7 to race in the Graduate series. After that I trackdayed the car for a few years, switching to a Fisher Fury BEC for a while before selling up to emigrate to Dallas with my American wife. Gradually settling in here (including acclimatising to the summer), and missing the windy roads/elevation changes back in the UK (and the access to so many circuits). Also missing not having a trackday car - but hoping to look for one in a year or two once we're properly settled, having spent much of our cash setting up home here. Would be good to hear about any events in the area - trackdays etc. that I might be able to come to view to say hello, or any 7 racing in the area. Thanks all Martin
