Rettedm
The top block flange on my 91 Caterham has a small stamp that reads "SAMCCR" surrounded by an oval. About a half inch long in total, Some kind of engine inspection stamp? Looks like it was struck with a hammer. Any ideas what this is from? Thanks, Dave
Croc
Is this on the chassis or the engine block? Samcor was the Ford South African joint venture in the 1980s. Ford eventually sold out but Samcor still exists today and I vaguely recall produced crossflow engines up until the early/mid 2000s for Formula Ford competition. It should be either a 1600/1700cc and there should be a stamping of 711 somewhere on the block as well.
bball7754
My understanding was that the South African blocks were "AXmnnnn", rather than 711M. Steve
