slngsht
I bought Gert's Sony CCD 520 bullet cam. It arrived yesterday, and I got around to hooking it up in the car today. Here are the results. The biggest improvement I was looking for over my existing setup (all my videos so far are with my digital camera - very hassle free) was to get rid of the buffeting noise, because my digital camera does not accept incoming audio. I will do an actual drive tomorrow if it is not raining (not looking good right now) What do you think? stick with the old, or the new?
WestTexasS2K
showed up black and white which isn't good for detail and you cant enjoy the scenery. Is it suppose to be black and white>?
slngsht
no :nonod: When I was testing it at home, color would fade in and out. I don't know what's causing that. I have no experience with these cams. It didnt come with a power supply nor a manual, and Gert is on travel so I can't ask him.
slngsht
when i recorded this, it was twilight, so that may have something to do with it.

slngsht
actually, I just fired it up, and it does have a black and white mode. So that was it. It's too dark to test it out now.

slomove
Wow, this little motel in Durango even has Internet, if a little slow..... Mazda, this should not be black and white. I got color when I did a test drive. Hope you can figure this out for the weekend. Tomorrow I will be really in the middle of nowhere and can not reply. I did leave a polarization filter in but that should rather improve the color. Gert
slngsht
I will give it a shot tomorrow... any advice on power supply? I robbed the kids' DVD player power supply and that seems to work. It wouldn't fire up with straight 12.5 Volts (engine off)
Al N.
Gert, hopefully you will be exploring Mesa Verde. And this restaurant: http://www.franciscosrestaurante.com/
slomove
Mazda, the camera will work fine from 12 Volt. When running on an old battery pack I noticed it will begin to do funny things below maybe 10.5 Volts. Actually I had it running in my car straight from the battery. Al, yes we will be going to Mesa Verde tomorrow. But we had Southwestern/Mexican/Indian food for the last four days and tonight we resorted to Swiss Cheese Fondue (heated up in the Microwave). Pretty good, though.... Today we did the Durango-Silverton Railroad. Gets you back to the times when 18 mph was an exhilarating speed. Total travel times of 7+ hours was a little on the long side but the scenery was obviously spectacular. Gert P.S.: Mazda, If the camera just does not do what you expect please send it back to me. slngsht
P.S.: Mazda, If the camera just does not do what you expect please send it back to me. No need. It will work fine  I did try direct battery, and measured 12.5V with my voltmeter, and got nothing. Maybe I had a disconnected wire somewhere. Either way, I'll be recording with it this weekend. Thanks for getting it out so quickly.
