JeffersonRaley
No, not like the massive head Vettel has after last weekend.... Massive Portwerks heads. I have not been able to get the head to seal on my Duratec, despite using a Cometic MLS and ARP studs. At this point I either need to get my head machined, or just replace it. And if I replace it I can get moar powah. So, you know, that seems like the way to go. That is, depending on what sort of experience people have had with Massive.... If not them I might go with Burton Power or Premier. But I'd rather not have to ship from UK.
ropaSeven
Try contacting Folis Jones. n57fj@verizon.net He runs zetecs in his Birkin with Massive heads I believe. He may have some ideas.
TheDingo8MyBaby
I'm assuming the head has a surface roughness of 50RA or finer as cometic specifies. People seem to love or hate MLS. Have you considered going back to a standard head gasket?
JeffersonRaley
Unfortunately the surface has quite a bit of roughness - nicks from where the mechanic set it down on hard surfaces. I could probably get it resurfaced and use the current head. It is possible that I'm looking for an excuse to buy a better flowing head with bigger valves. Mike Rohaley
If the head has been decked it is possible for the locating dowels to be bottoming out and keeping the head from fully sealing. Just a thought, it's often a simple oversight.
Zona
I don't have any experience with this massive head yet, but once you fixed it, it will be a blast.

Just a thought, it's often a simple oversight. Good thought. This head doesn't use dowels though. I think a quick resurfacing would solve the problem. I've pretty much convinced myself to get the better Massive head though. It just feels so unproductive to put a car back together without making it faster. JeffersonRaley
After way too long, my Seven is running again. I went with the Massive head, and unfortunately it took over 4 months for them to get here. But the engine does seem to make more power - I look forward to getting it on a dyno for some tuning. While I had the car apart I fixed several wiring issues, including a mistake the PO made wiring up the wideband. The past year has been an endless stream of problems - mostly due to 2 back-to-back engine rebuilds. I can't count the times I thought about giving up and buying a Cayman S or C7. A hundred feet into my test run all of those thoughts disappeared. These cars are weapons grade hilarity. Tomorrow I'll finish putting the bodywork back on and fabricate a cover for my relocated fuses and relays. Then it's off to get some cage reinforcement and it'll be ready for the track again. I can't wait!
