I hope someone more knowledgeable can confirm my suspicions or tell me if I'm looking in the wrong place?

In the midst of routine maintenance and nose to tail checks on my car (Birkin, stock Duratek with ITBs) I noticed the fuel pressure regulator was off. Adjusting the regulator did not produce any change in displayed pressure: (making me think the aeromotive regulator is malfunctioning). However concurrently when starting up the engine the fuel system initially pressurizes, and then drops to 20psi after 1-2 minutes. Normally the fuel pump (GSL395) has a several second prime to build pressure which has always produced a high pitched humm/whine sound. Now when idling or priming the pump is producing a low pitched hum/growl.

I suspect the pump is about to give up the ghost and has not been supplying enough output for the pressure regulator to properly pressurize the system or respond to the adjustment screw. However other considerations are a bad regulator, or clogged fuel filter???

Does anyone else have 16K on one of these pumps with a TMW setup?

cheers

Well, how you even start and run the car with bad regulator or weak fuel pump?

Fuel injection system is very sensitive to these two parts. So, you probably pointing in the wrong direction. What is the symptom?

It became reluctant to start this weekend. When it does, fuel pressure rapidly drops to 20 and the engine stalls.

After consulting a boffin it sounds like my fuel pump is under-Spec'd and been over performing all this time.

Current plan is to replace the pump and assess the response

Ok then....that's more like it. Stalling & won't start a symptom of fuel starvation (in fuel injection system).

You mentioned the Gsl395? That's a Walbro right? which I had 3 of them went south and found out they were all made in "junk china"

They counterfeited Walbro and its hard to tellif real or not. All I know, when I hear it like a person having an asthma attack, I knew its gone.

Get a new one and try it....at least you have spare incase its not.
